c.mk xx Driverush cancel xx s.hp, b.mp, b.hk xx jump, j.mp xx qcb.mk
EDIT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AvNHr_ogzs
The first combo is basically the same, just even easier.
I've read somewhere that the input has been changed to simply mp&mk during a cancelable normal. But for some reason I couldn't get it to work in previous attempts.
I will start SF6 and try the combo now.
Edit: Not sure if it's important but I'm using Classic controls.
Edit 2: I figured it out! Thanks for your help!
Or you could use the old way, double tap forward.
There are 2 or 3 ways to do it? I saw some Reddit post where Capcom posted an official Tweet in June that allowed one to just press mp&mk and not need a direction input.
So to me that means you can Drive Rush by doing a cancelable normal and then pressing one of the following methods:
1. Forward Forward
2. mp&mk
3. mp&mk&Forward
And as per you, any other direction will fail the Drive Rush. Do I have that right? I just want to be certain so I don't make mistakes during an actual match.
Zangief Advanced Combo 3 is this:
HK Punish Counter
(During a Drive Parry) f,f
df+mp
qcf,qcf+k
It feels really clunky and the timing is very strict.
Is there another way to do a Drive Rush here or, because there is no cancelable normal here, is mp+mk,f,f the only way to do it?
Thanks.
Edit: Okay. After the hk, I can hold mp&mk and smash f a bunch of times so that comes out easier. But then going into df+mp and resetting to qcf, qcf+k is driving me nuts. That's a me problem.
But I don't like Drive Rush with mp+mk,f,f just feels a little bad.
You do not need to press f, f any more to DR as part of a combo. Just press the Drive Parry button during the cancellable frames.
You can see the cancellable frames in the practice area (not the combo trial area) by turning that option on. Your character will flash red or blue. What each color means is explained in the tooltip when selecting that option in the menu.
I edited.
HK Punish Counter isn't a cancelable normal. I believe this is called a link (I forget some SF terminology)
Read the edit.
There's a longer window to connect another move after a punish (as the enemy flinches for longer). Drive rush from drive parry as soon as you can. What input method are you using? Drive rushing is probably slower for me on pad that it is on stick, and then again stick is slower for me than on leverless.
You can get the fastest possible DR from Parry by pressing forward + drive parry > forward. This also costs slightly less drive bar, as you don't lose a tick of drive bar from starting the parry at all.
I despise sticks and hitboxes so I'm probably gonna have a hard time.
Pad is perfectly playable at the very top levels. Players just need to develop specific muscle memory to get everything done at the right timing.
I just happen to find leverless faster for double tapping inputs. From people I've seen talking about it, I'd say that the selling point of leverless is making doing motions more concise.
I'm not a fan of DR stuff because I can't do it consistently and I'm getting stomped by people who can. I have a bunch of different characters I like to use too, so I don't even know where to start.
I kind of wish the combo trials wouldn't skip over to the next one on completion so I can sit there and keep practicing over and over.
And I wish they would break them into smaller parts and then have bigger ones following.
Press start. Change the setting from 'auto-proceed' to 'repeat'.
