It's more likely that I don't own an ultra-wide monitor. Glad to be wrong though.
Still though, you can tell the game isn't actually ultra-wide, it just shows the rest of the stage.
I looked in the settings that Avatar uses classic controls, but if I hit R2, I get some new combo.
Please tell me if I got something wrong and this nightmare can be changed?
Wrong wrong. Right after where the demo ended, so when you fight Luke in the street after a few tutorials the game tells you that you can change your controls from modern to classic. Up until that point you are forced to use modern, but right after that you can change it in options. There are even some side missions/extra tutorials that require you to switch between them. You can finish World Tour using either control schemes.
Multi menu (not your phone) -> options -> controls -> avatar battle control type
In regular VS outside world tour you need to specify modern or classic for each character, which is a bit annoying. When you pick your character it's by default on modern. Gotta remember to switch it.
Oh grow the hell up. You're acting like that because you're *forcibly* trying to find reasons to hate on this game. Just change the option and keep playing the game, for goodness sake. Stop crying so much.
In most games, the second option results in an advantage to the player with the ultra wide screen, but due to how important walls are in SF, that doesn't fly here. The mods people are using to play in ultra wide sort of require additional mods that "mark" where the wall is, since you can't see them in ultra wide and that makes you unable to take them into account.
imo, just take the black borders. Unless you're a screenshot creator, because it does look good in ultra wide, it's just not very functional if you actually intend to play.
It took a long time for us to drop the arcade cabinet aspect ratio in favor of the home consoles 4:3 and then even more time for us to drop 4:3 for 16:9. Maybe games will actually be designed for ultra wide in a decade or so, if, and only if, everyone decides they love ultra wide.
The game should not force the player to play the way it needs to play in order to promote what I gave up in the beginning. The game should give you a choice of controls when you start the World Tour, but it doesn't do that.
Maybe they didn't have time? They added a feature, but didn't implement it?
As far as I can tell, Dynamic control isn't an option for your avatar.
