Came across my first cheater?

I'm not the greatest at fighting games. I would say I'm average at best even though I grew up playing fighters but I was on a win streak against this one person. They were using modern control scheme so I assumed they were new since they weren't pulling off anything even slightly complicated. It was two matches in a row where I was rushing them down and they couldn't fight back. Then all of a sudden, when I had the advantage, I started getting lag spikes thus leading me to lose those two matches. I know it wasn't my connection cuz everything was fine before hand. It was weird. I assumed they were using a lag spike or something similar cuz again, everything was fine until those two matches.

were they on wifi? whe ni play against wifi it always spikes. i hate it

Sorry, but that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for multiple reasons. For once, SF6 has a very good netcode, not compareable to past times, also in a proper Wifi 6 mesh, you don't have any packet loss at all and a great ping, but at the opposite, with a broken or just too cheap cable, you do have a bad connection even with cable. So you definitely can't tell if someone is lagging or not by the type of connection.

ive had lag spike every now and then ping goes high and back to normal, wifi user to and its mostly smooth match

I got my first fight after +100h like that, the dude dropped his ping up to 2500 every time i did an offense or started a combo then when he catched me his co went back to normal and he destroyed me.

okay, let's entertain that notion and say it's true, how many people who don't care enough to do the cheap & easy solution and get a cable, are going to have a properly set up wifi6 mesh with multiple routers costing hundreds of dollars?
the numbers just aren't in your favor wifi fighter, give it up and queue against eachother.

Agreed, it's the case of inconsistency, whilst a lot of us are gutter trash, me included, we want the perfect setup so we have an enjoyable fight, it's a trust thing I'm sure. Same reason not a lot of people will run wireless controllers, most using a ps4 or 5 controller plug it in to stop any further delays
