super cancels
I'm obviously doing something horrendously wrong, I can cancel normals into specials just fine (in practice anyway, drop them sometimes in matches)

but I can not, for the life of me get a super cancel to actually work in SF6.

say I go 236hk on ryu, at what point in the frames am I supposed to put in the next 236k?
can I do the movements in the 28 startup, and execute during the 9 hits, do all inputs need to be done during the 16 recovery, or do I have some sort of timer I have to beat after the initial 236hk?

Hang on, first things first. Why are you doing 246 motions on ryu. Do you mean 214 for tatsu?

2nd thing is im not familiar with Ryu. Can tatsu super cancel?

ah sorry, I mean 236, high blade kick, the cancel timing has him flash blue, so I should be able to do that into another 236 level 3 super.

I don't think so. If op mean like a dp into super, pretty sure you can't do it. From what I can tell only certain special moves are super cancelable. Like EX Blanka electricity.

The moment you do the QCF for High Blade Kick you should already be doing another QCF for the super. Then all you need to do is press the button the moment the kick connects.

I don't know if you already know this but only Level 3 super can be cancelled into from regular specials. EX specials can be cancelled into level 2 and level 1 can only be cancelled into from normals. Donkey kick into super is pretty easy, just do the motion before the kick hits and press the button after it connects.

When you say 236, high blade kick are you referring inputting normals into a high blade kick? Sorry, I'm new and also learning Ryu.

You can cancel DP into super.
Some normals allow you to cancel into super regardless of level.

A good example is Luke's MP+MP target combo. The first and 2nd hits can be super canceled. It's good to read the unique attacks in the command list to see if they have any special properties.

I didn't mean to imply level 3 can ONLY be cancelled into from a special, I'm just saying you have more cancel options the higher the super level

236 is directional notation, if you have a look at the numpad it'll make sense.
so 236K is high blade kick, I want to do 236k236k - which would be the level 3 super, cancelling out of the high blade kick.

I'm maining kimberly, but having absurd amounts of trouble with super cancels, so I'm just here with ryu in the practice area.

yeah, okay there's something else going on then, because the soonest I can do it, is a full 236236k on the first frame after recovery.

edit: okay, so I did it, but I have to be waaaay faster with the quarter circles, than if I was inputting just the super., thanks dude!

In the training there is an option to have your character flash if and when there are cancelable frames. They turn red during special cancelable ones and blue for super cancels. Helps with the timing.
