Good players trolling lower ranks with alts?
I have begun ranked play after a week of casual, and I'm seeing some very "un-iron-like" things in the iron rank. Namely, players who can expertly react to drive impact, and players who have long combo strings extended with drive rush. I'm getting bodied by some of these iron players who are better than even the strong players I've encountered in hundreds of casual matches.

It seems like this is an avenue to troll lower ranks with alts. If the rank doesn't matter for the alts, players will just occasionally drop fights so they can stay in iron and wreck noobs.

They need to rethink this BS.

It takes time to go up the ranks. You might have just ran into people in their placement matches.

Theres plenty of valid explanations.

1. Trying new character
2. They just haven't played ranked yet
3. They learned a combo and you keep getting hit by it

I don't see the issue here, its a god danm multiplayer doing alt accounts by experienced players is bread and butter of any online game, u just have to deal with it, and no i am not a experienced player, im on the getting ganked side, but it is what it is.

I don't see the problem
"Names the problem specifically but ignores it"

In SFV ranking was account wide. General wisdom was that ranked matches were ppl at your level. Casual was where you got bodied.

Now with rank per character, experienced players can troll lower ranks. Didn't used to be a problem.

They can only do it for so long though. An experienced player is going to be ranked out of the newbie level soon with each new character they use. He'd level up the whole roster in one evening's play and no longer be a problem :) And I imagine the type of player with the mentality to troll newbs for the fun of it is going to get bored with that pretty fast anyway.

I don't think it's a huge issue, in the arcade days pros would challenge whoever as well. At least online you can choose not to rematch.

At the same time it's a crash course on the pinnacle of BS a character is capable of. Look at how they use DR and DI and copy it.

And I'm saying this not as a Street Fighter pro, I went 0-9 in Battle Hub yesterday.

It's not trolling or smurfing. This is just what happens early on in a game's or seasons lifetime. Especially since the ranks are tied to characters You are going to be facing good players in the lower ranks for a while and then things will eventually even out.

It'll sort itself out. In low ranks (I assume only in low ranks, can't speak to anything above silver) you get more points for winning than you lose for losing. So to really tank your rank, you would have to throw a ton of games, not just a few.

Occasionally getting stomped isn't the worst thing for your own growth anyways, you can still learn a lot, even if all you do is trying to get a single hit in. So far matchmaking has been a very good experience for me

I did not realize rank is tied to character! That's neat
my main is platinum but my first alt got silver after placements. almost gold now

I wonder what "expertly react to drive impact" looks like. The matter is, that DI is very reactable, more so when you just throw it out over and over or when it is expected. I'm also not sure about the long combo strings. Did you lab said combo strings? Maybe they are very easy to pull off. And last but not least getting bodied in FGs is very normal. Watch the replay, try to learn from it and move on. Not everyone beating you is a smurf or "trolling"...

They're probably trying new characters after a while the game will filter them off your way, but smurf are always there, but not in the quantities everyone says.

This franchise has been around for 40 years, so you're going to run into people who just bought the game today and can perform at a near top tier level out the gate.
