Indeed.
Might try @Unrighteous suggestion though. Sounds reasonable enough and I wouldn't have thought about it. Yet, considering how they've set up the system, I see potential issues even with that approach. Hopefully, they fix this soon, but I am about to just give up. Too bad I can't even refund it anymore.
Which, I feel this is doubly messed up because on launch, SF6 didn't require the Capcom ID acct. to play online. I was playing online with friends and randos alike during that brief period and it was perfectly fine! It wasn't until they updated it to require it that I ran into trouble. I tried to link my Steam acct. to the CID I used while playing SFV but found out I had an account from ResNet linked already. So I just unlinked it so I could use my newer acct. for the SFV goodies but I guess I have to go screw myself now because Capcom won't let me link my Steam acct. to the newer CID
So now, I can't access ANY of the online components either. It's just the World Tour and other offline modes; those are all I can do now when the entire reason I bought the game was to play with friends.
I made a Support Inquiry but I'm pretty doubtful about obtaining any real results.
i sure wish there was, but I've dug around some already and the few people I've seen have a specific issue like this haven't posted any new results/information or were for unrelated things like just changing your Capcom ID name. Most I've found to do is just creating a support inquiry :/
This probably won't be of much comfort, but when I was setting mine up, I recall reading a disclaimer stating something to the effect of "if you unlink your Steam account from Capcom ID, you won't be able to reconnect to same account later".
You may need to make a new steam account? Maybe you can get the game refunded from your current account, then repurchase on new account? There may be a more elegant way about it, but I haven't a clue. Just remember thinking to myself that sounded kinda harsh, wondered if it were just poorly worded and they meant something else.
But before you do anything rash, I'd wait another couple days to hear back from Capcom. Maybe you can start the refund process if you don't have crazy amounts of time in the game. Even so, you might be able to get refunded due to loss of major functionality.
Good Luck! I'm sure you'll get it solved.
Yep, exactly the same issue. I made a second ticket, but to no avail as of typing this. Which is beyond frustrating. I detailed the ticket with proof of the previous unlinking and deletion of the previous CapcomID account. There should be no traces left of my account in their system, but the truth is, of course, stupider. It is a poorly thought-out system and should have never been there in the first place. They proved it with the Resident Evil portal. They don't plan on keeping things forever. Who knows how long the CapcomID would last before they decide to re-brand it to something else or drop it off completely.
This is souring the experience to such an extent I can't put into words. And to think Capcom had somewhat of a good reputation in the last few years. The one saving grace is this is so cumbersome, you can't even access the real money shop. The lack of CapcomID completely shuts down 1/3 of the game and within that third is the shop. So at least I don't have to look at that crap.
