Cammy past?
I liked playing street fighter 4 from time to time, but I wasn't really into the story.

now that SF6 is out I have to say a great game.
and cammy wow is clearly my fav char.
so I have informed me a little about her story.
so that cammy should be a vessel for bison and so on.
and the fact that if bison should die prematurely
all "vessels" would die too.

now i have finished the arcade story of chun li and juri in SF6
and read that bison is dead. (probably already since SF2)

now my question or what puzzles me.

why is cammy still alive?
or is that somewhere in games, manga, anime clarified that this mechanism was suspended?

If so where?

Bison died in SFV and Shadaloo disbanded. They weren't a threat in SF3 either.

It wouldn't surprise me if that plot point was just forgotten about or some thing was made up that saved all the dolls from dying.

All of the dolls were still alive after Bison died in SFV. Other spare bodies like Abel, Ed and Falke are all alive as well

I think it's hilarious how, when someone supposedly gets possessed by Bison and he takes over their body, they will slowly mutate and change into his original form over time.

Imagine Cammy just slowly turning into an oversized man. There would definitely be a point where she would be a futa.

I promise this isn't a kink.

The answer is basically retcons and they want to keep characters around so they can return in future games and stories.

Almost every SF game retcons something the previous ones established.

thank you for the answers.

I also came across something interesting today.

"Cammy was one of M. Bison's replacement bodies. M. Bison is the leader of Shadaloo. It is believed that when M. Bison dies, Cammy will either also die, or her body will be taken over by M. Bison; although neither of these things have happened since his possible death in A Shadow Falls."

"it is believed that...."

that means for me that this point was never really confirmed

My knowledge of SF lore is a bit rusty and I didn't really care for the "main" story of SFV because of how bad it was.

But if I remember right, the whole dying-when-Bison-dies was related to the Psycho Drive from SFA3, which was capable of mind controlling people. The Dolls were metaphorical robots due to the brainwashing they received. When Bison died in SFA3, the brainwashing broke and a few of the dolls were mental vegetables (Juni comes to mind).

Chances are the reason Cammy didn't suffer from those effects is because she was breaking her programming/brainwashing before Bison's first death and the Psycho Drive's destruction. When Bison died, her and the other dolls' minds shut down (likely what Bison meant when he said they die along with him) and If I recall correctly, Vega was the one who saved them from the Shadaloo base that was falling apart. Cammy woke up first and has been trying to help Juni and Juli regain their minds and reintergrate into society, having some success with Juni, but not with Juli as of SFIV

By SFII, the Psycho drive is long gone and Bison's soul possesed Rose's body until a new body was created. This explains why Bison's SFII appearance is so much smaller compared to the bigger, more powerful one he had in the Alpha games.

Then SFIV and V happen which is a proper mess in terms of story. But by that point, Bison's mental hold wasn't as strong or life threatening on the Dolls and he'd stopped trying to use the dolls as substitute bodies and started properly using them as his assassins and bodyguards.

By SF6, Bison is finally gone for good and Cammy and the Dolls are living in relative peace.

"Gone for good."

They'll find a way to bring him back.

One can dream. They really need to move on from Bison

Everything is canon if they don't confirm or deny it.

Bison can be revived at any given time by Capcom using their logic of "he possessed one of the puppets before he died" and that's why "it's believed that".

If Capcom doesn't 100% says "he is dead for sure" then he is like Schrödingers cat, both alive and dead. Capcom doesn't even need to revive him.

The reason why the dolls never died wasn't explained, nor the mechanic behind a potential reason why and how they would have died, if he did, to begin with.

It wasn't even confirmed (how so?) if the method of destroying those dolls, on his death, even worked.

And as long as Capcom doesn't confirm or deny anything... you won't see a definitive answer.
