that’s not how it works at all lol, you have to take into account the startup frames and that the fact most lights are -2 or -3 on block, so no a 4 frame is not the answer. Plus if you’re mashing jab during a block-string you are just begging to get punished.
Throw has start-up too (5f?) and if you successfully blocked then your opponent is very likely the one who is negative, making it that much easier to jab them out of throw start-up. It depends on what you blocked but if they are -2/-3, lets say, then you should be able to beat throw start-up with even a 5f jab with a frame or two to spare. It won't be the right guess in every instance but the risk reward is decent in lots of situations, and of course you have some other options (and they have other options and so on!).
Of course you do need to account for the relatively small number of moves that are plus on block but they really aren't that common so its not hard to learn to spot those.
Throw loops are BS (in the sense that they really do beat jab start-up which seems a bit oppressive) - but tick throws don't seem that strong to me in SF6 in particular.
Just curious but are you convinced by your whole persecution complex "I've figured out something no one else has" thing you've got going on or is this actually as subliminally sad as it seems?
I just see it all the time and I'm trying to empathize.
This is true - but they can't throw you while chaining - going for a throw ends the chain and the last blocked jab will leave them with frame disadvantage. So its still a relatively weak tick-throw setup.
Also after a couple of blocked chained jabs you are probably out of throw range requiring you to walk forward after the recovery frames of your last chained jab (which again left you slightly negative) which again makes this a fairly weak setup.
For reference when I say "tick throws aren't that bad in this game" I mean relative to other games where more normals are plus and you actually can't jab them out of their throw attempt. There are some in SF6 but they aren't super common compared to games where light normals are often plus on block for the attacker. I still think tick-throws aren't a problem in SF6 - compared to other games or even SF6's throw-loops for instance.
It doesn't matter if OP is wrong or right. He has a frustration and what people SHOULD do is just let the guy vent and then give him an answer which is either correct or not and may warrant further discussion.
The problem with Steam forums or places like Reddit is that there are no pinned posts for SF6 fundamentals.
Most game's guides sections are often filled with junk, and discussions on Steam (in general, not saying here) are over or under moderated or filled with "Git gud scrub" millennial and zoomer insults.
It's a shame what has happened to fighting games since fighting game tech has gotten much more complex but there isn't a single good place to find that tech when people are trying to learn the game.
Contrary to millennial and zoomer opinion saying Git gud scrub pushes people away from your game, and then you end up with a dead game. They're already upset, but instead of helping, you're pissing them off instead. You think that helps?
Someone will say youtube.
Youtube videos are hit and miss and you might waste 8-30 minutes and potentially never find the answer you're looking for.
What we need is another SRK forum with community support to fund it.
Discord is also useless and subject to people's moods and unwillingness or unavailability to answer questions. And for all of these the search feature stinks.
If Steam Guides were curated then people might post them but they never are.
So you end up with so many half baked time wasting solutions that nobody wants to deal with, and the result is a thread like this posted by OP.
The result should never be millennial and zoomer Git gud scrub nonsense. It should be a discussion.
But again, you'll never have a good solution until we get something like SRK forums back or Capcom creates a quality in-game rock paper scissors guide to throwing.
But since we don't have that, perhaps one of you should create a throw guide, toss it up in the SF6 Steam Guides section, and keep it updated as people give counterpoints.
Then if someone asks, it can be easily linked.
I would do it but I can't verify any of the claims here since I don't know it that deep as some of you seem to.
