How to know if someone rage quit?
How do I know if it was a rage or just disconnected?

All rage quits are disconnects. Players that give up usually stand without pressing buttons and let you perfect them. Disconnects because of the internet are typically terrible wifi connections that nobody feels sorry about and should be permabanned. Then there are game-related disconnects from system crashes and other errors.

There's no real way to tell since some people still have connection issues but if they rematch with you after a lost match they probably aren't ragequitters, and if you string together a nice combo on round 2, pull off the super 3 and it connects and you get a pause mid animation before disconnect you probably caused them to pop a blood vessel.

They'll get punished eventually so I wouldn't expect too many ragequitters soon.

That could be a connection error, as well.

The ONLY way you will be able to know, is if you are either directly messaged and told by the user, or if you directly message and ask the user. Anything else is assumption.

If you don't even let your opponent move ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ once then it's a rage quit.

I mean as the name implies, it's a quit out of frustration or rage. So it probably happens when you've dominated them and they have no way out. But at the end of the day, does it matter? They quit. What caused it is pretty irrelevant. Find another match and forget about them.

They definitely should give you the win when the other person disconnects for whatever reason though. Makes no sense they they don't.

This is probably true. I actually did my first "ragequit" today on the bh arcades. I mean it was an accident but this is exactly what caused it. It was like my umpteenth time against someone who didn't let me play at all, and I was getting really frustrated. I just wanted my 3 win daily. So ofc I was spamming all the buttons to get out of those post-match cutscenes (I always do that on every game, blame it on the ADD I can't stand being stuck and not able to play for no reason) and then accidentally pressed rematch. And the last thing I wanted was rematch. So in like 1 second flat I spammed select and start and esc and eventually alt + f4 so fast I didn't even know what happened. I'm not proud of that. But it happened on the very start of the next match so hopefully I didn't waste too much of their time.

But since I'm on the subject, is anyone else bothered by the useless delays? Like, whether it's the travel confirmation dialogue always defaulting to no in WT, unless you travel in the same area in which case it defaults to yes, or the introductions, or the 10 second delays betwen matches when the other person is just standing there and nothing is even happening and you're just waiting to play... this is really annoying to me. Anyone else have a problem with that? Even the quit game menu has like a 1 second delay to it and a confirmation that defaults to no, so I usually have to spam that like 3-4 times to get to quit the game too.

You can tell by experience.

My only disconnection so far happened when a Ryu was about to win the match. I'm not on wifi and didn't check if he was, but it kind of bothers me that he might think I rage quit on him.

There's no way to know for sure. If someone is winning, they very probably didn't rage quit but if they're losing they might just have internet trouble. That's why no online game tries to make the distinction and you get penalized for having garbage internet. Which, let's face it, you should because you're ruining it for everyone else whether you intend to or not.

As other's have said there is no way to know for sure considering the current stability of the game for some.

A Ken player recently quit on me after I jumped over his fireball and hit him with a jump-in. This was in the first five seconds of the first match.

I don't know if he really quit after one jump-in or if that was just a really unfortunate disconnect.
