How new player friendly is this?
Extremely novice to fighting games, only played a handful of MKX and 11, a single round of Smash and only really played a bit of Tekken 7.

For all newcomers to fighting games, or even for people new to modern street fighter stuff, I recommend playing World Tour at least up to the point you unlock and learn how to use your Drive Bar. At this point, you will have learned all the basics of the game, and from there it's up to you how you improve.

When you first go online and choose to select ranked, it will ask you how familiar you are to fighting games/street fighter on a scale of 'brand new' to 'expert'. If you literally play in competitions or stream fighting games commonly, chances are you're expert. If you did what I said and played World Tour up to the Drive Bar unlock, then you're probably the second level, in Bronze or Silver and should test yourself against similarly skilled opponents there. If you skipped world tour and are literally just fresh install, choose the lowest option for the best experience.

If you really want to challenge yourself, regardless of your skill level other than an actual expert player, choose the option that's one higher than yourself to find opponents that may be better than you so you can improve based on that.

Coin flip -it depends on the player. Some are having fun some are only getting stomped.

Single player is as friendly as can be imho. World Tour can last more than 50 hours.
Online...you'll meet people like you and a lot of people who will humiliate you. Ranking mode almost always put you against the same league, so the word ranking should not scare you.
i think it's a reference of friendliness

The friendliest fighting game to new players is whichever one has the most beginners kicking around in ranked, which is this game at the moment.

What experience did you have? The FGC is probably the best gaming community.

Also, this game is very beginner friendly. There's modern controls, world tour for a lengthy story mode, and ranked does a good job at putting you against opponents that are on your level.

Its pretty beginner friendly, try out Modern controls and do the tutorials and some combo training for whatever character you want to main and you'll do fine. I haven't really played any SF games seriously until now and I'm already silver in ranked mode. If you aren't into multiplayer the world tour mode is actually really fun and pretty long from what I hear

The fgc is honest. If you're a scrub, you'll be called one, nothing complicated.

Modern controls, laziness with wifi, all play a role.

Im completely new to fighting games in general and im having a great time in single player / fighting vs cpu / learning in the lab and playing casual working my way into some ranked it seems quite newcomer friendly! id recommend it if your thinking about it for sure :) feels rewarding slowly getting better at a character you dedicate a little bit of time to!

I come from Dota 2 so the FGC is no problem to deal with.

Oh come on, that's not fair. Compared to Dota 2 any community is all sunshine and roses. With the possible exception of the League of Legends community.

But to answer the OP's question, it's very, very new player friendly. It's got tutorials and training options all over the place, plenty of single-player content where you can just familiarize yourself with things at your own pace, and if you ever want to jump online there's plenty of Steam groups and Discords with other new players looking to improve and play with you.

This is the most accessible street fighter game to date, there are three types of control scheme now; the easiest of which called dynamic sounded like it would make the game play more like smash brothers. I think mortal kombat experience will help you learn the modern controls as well. That being said as far as skill matched players now is the best time to learn street fighter. The networking is phenomenal, people 12,000 miles away connect with as little lag as a local area network. That brings me to my final point; the tools included within the game to help you understand the mechanics are state of the art and plentiful. There are options you can choose in the training room which will display esoteric things like frame data, when a move is able to be canceled and so much more that I cannot do it justice at this point as I am pressed for time. Not only that but there is character breakdowns, combo trials and bot ai that helps you practice specific things but if that wasn't good enough theres also a single player mode that spoon feeds you the information in digestible bits In summary Now's a good time to get into street fighter :SF6_Delta_Cat:

As new player-friendly as any other fighting game. The accessibility stuff is mostly a trap lol

I tutor so hit me up if you're interested

This has become increasingly obvious to me in my time here. But at least I've gotten to block plenty of toxic bullies out of my life for good, it's a thing that I know will pay itself back in the future. :>

The World Tour is really fun if you're into stuff like that, it feels like an action-RPG with fighter mechanics and there's a good 40h+ worth of content there. More if you count the remaining bits of grinding extra levels and mastering all the iconic character styles. And the customization options and costumes are really seriously good.

But be prepared for a very brutal entry into the vs. mode. Even ranked to the very bottom of the list, most of your opponents will be absolutely destroying you with combos that defy reason. Getting 10+ matches in a row where you might as well just leave your controller on the table and go watch YT because you're not going to get a single action in no matter how hard you try, is sadly a reality.

People on these and other forums keep repeating that the average fighting game enthusiast spends years training. Which basically means that no matter what they do with the controls, this genre will never be accessible to newbies. Not unless they fundamentally change the game to give handicap bonuses, or fix their ranked so that newbies are actually matched with other newbies instead of career fighting gamers.

Yeah I don't know what this guy's on about, FGC peeps are more than happy to help you so long as your attitude isn't garbage.

It's new player friendly all three modes offer a good experience. Many players are too focused on win and loss ratio to the point of obsession. You'll experience both the good and bad sides. I would love to play more, but during the work week, I'm limited and I don't want to play tired and unfocused with the current player base.
