Is ranked region locked?

It takes like 10 minutes for me to find a match in Ranked. This doesn't seem normal for a game that came out less than a week ago. My connection is fine, I checked.

sadly that is what it seems like, ive looked into this issue from many sources online and the common complaint is long wait time/same ppl

ppl are either having to wait long queue times for game eventho the games netcode is more than capable of 150ms games, heck ive played ppl in battle hub with 200ms and game was playable, but I digress

or they are constantly matched with ppl within their own state or super close by, which if you don't live in a populated state, really doesn't make use of the rollback netcode and reduces ur player pool by alot,

if we are at the peak of SF6s player pool with 50k+ PC players and who knows how many on consoles, and the matchmaking is this slow and restrictive now, I can only imagine how it's gonna be once the playerbase shrinks.

Game already does badly on consoles (not even in top 50 most played games both on xbox and ps, while something like mk11 is in top 30).

It only has good numbers on steam because of forced valve ads in the library.

So the playerbase being poor on consoles even on release means it will be much worse in few months. Steam numbers will dwindle significantly as well. Especially when MK1 gets released and steals all the casuals. Or even before then.

Game definetely not worth extra 10$ a month just for basic performance that you get from other fighting games.

I get matches in few seconds in MK11 even during night. 5 bar matches.

Same in T7 but it takes few seconds more.

im with ya on that one, I played MK11 2 months ago(before the mk1 hype) when the PC numbers were around 2k+ and I was getting both ranked and casual matches within secs all around 40-100ms ping with the occasional 150ms+, and MK11 on PC is only PC players no crossplay,

SF6 has crossplay and match making is slow af without a VPN.

Proton perhaps.

But considering the nature of free vpn's you are better off looking for paid options, because your speed will most likely be lowered quite a bit.

- Surfshark and NordVPN is owned by the same company and only have minimal differences in their UI. Both are decent options.
- Mullvad is considered the "best" for certain stuff, which you will never happen to do.

I don't think they will do that, I'm in the same spot as you, I live in LATAM, and I don't get any matches with the US east coast not even Mexico, those generally are normal 70, 80, 90ms that's FL GA, TX and NY and that really suck, I bought the game mostly for the online, but if I could I would refund the game.

You basically need to pay for a good vpn for the entire lifespan of this game to get the basic feature others game have.

No, but it's region locked, unless you use a VPN. If you're say in the Middle East, you only get Eastern Europeans and people around you, but the ping is terrible.

Dude we get it that you live at a great place with good internet and you're getting games in seconds. That is not the case for most people leaving outside of US and Japan. We have good internet and we are using LAN and we are still getting games in like 10-15 minutes with 3-5 bars. It's not because of the high ping. Game lets you know when people refuse the match, it's not what it's about. It doesn't even find matches to refuse. But as soon as we change region with VPN, with the same ping range (3-5), rank system suddenly starts finding people in seconds. They may refuse a game because of a high ping but someone usually accepts in less than a minute.
So, stop saying that it's not region locked just because it works great for you.
