Modern controls ruins SF6

Seriously. I have ZERO respect for anyone that can't do these simple ass inputs and drive rush combos. Anyone can do these inputs with a whopping 20 minutes a day devoted to learning them.

720 via a button press is busted AF. C'mon.

I agree with you. I stopped using modern controls because of this exact reason. Winning using modern controls felt cheap and I was not satisfied taking the easy way out. In addition to doing 20% less damage, I also felt like I was not learning the nuances of each character's move sets. Now, I'm back to getting my ass thoroughly kicked using classic controls, but I would rather get a C+ on an exam that I studied hard for than get an A- by cheating my way through. Sometimes, the longest path to victory is the best. Unless you have an physical disability that prevents you from having full use of your hands, there is no acceptable reason to use modern controls.

Right? OP was an easy block lol. It's truly a wonder how some people don't have even the tiniest bit of ability to consider things from someone else's perspective. I'm not here to delude myself that I would ever become the best fighter in the world. Or even a mediocre one. I'm just here for fun. Using modern is a simple gameplay decision for me. Learn, time, and master 50 inputs and break my fingers to do 1 thing *every time* I do a combo (and 20 different versions of inputs for each different combo too)? Or just tap 1 button a few times to do the one thing instead? Easy choice.

They really should just let us filter people based on combat styles already. So those of us who don't mind can play against whatever, and the elites can opt out from modern opponents entirely.

I agree with you. Filtering players out who use modern controls would be the best option. This way, I don't have to see these filthy casuals in my lobby and they can have their fun doing whatever makes them happy.

I agree with you. Players who have disabilities are welcome to use modern controls. However, I deserve to have an option to keep players who use modern controls out of my lobby. I paid for the premium edition of the game and I deserve a premium experience.

Fair enough, but wouldnt segregating the community be detrimental, if modern controls are inferior shouldnt modern players be technically much easier for you to beat and gloat over it with?

No. If anything, it promotes parity by keeping players using similar control schemes in one space and players using alternative control schemes in another space. Modern control players will play against other players using modern controls, etc. This also prevents players from who use classic controls from feeling like they lost to someone to who was openly cheating. It's the equivalent to enabling and disabling cross play so that console players don't feel like they automatically get destroyed by anyone playing on PC.

Im 35+ years old and im playing with classic. Fighting Games are very hard to learn for me cuz im not 20 anymore. I still refuse to let the game play for me.

Honestly, i was able to tolerate modern at first. But now, i see it as an illegitimate way to play the game.

I'm someone who isn't great at street fighter and i play on classic.i'm too lazy to learn combos, so i just play by the fundamentals and try to outplay my opponent, i'm casual. But with modern in the game, it basically just ruins this entirely, because now every scrub without a brain can just bash out combos like it is nothing.

Like, i can tell pretty quickly when i'm dealing with a brainlet, but one mistake against them can be catastrophic if they're using modern. So i'm here calculating, learning my foe, and then i make a simple mistake, and bam.. I'm eating dirt.

Modern is worst for people who are classic casual. A sweaty classic is probably going to have little issue, but a casual classic just gets pounded by this garbage if the opponent even has a mild understanding of the game.

He plays a strong character, so he does not deserve his victories! Been there, done that many times! Dude, so if this mechanic is so broken, why aren't you using it? Why don't you use modern controls? To feel like an elite? But judging by this post, you don't feel like an elite, you feel like a victim who lacks personal skills. A very strong character? Well, play for him. Modern controls give other players easy wins? Use modern controls! What's the problem? Good players use what they think is effective to win, rather than thinking about how not to offend their opponent.

This isnt true, I played with Classic before switching to modern and I was able to beat a modern control player and I am not very good at this game at all, if you are also so bad, just use modern instead of punishing yourself and blaming others for your shortcomings.
