I suffer from ranked anxiety
And went on a 12 win streak after not playing ranked for a month and almost to diamond now. Im posting this cuz i know theres some of u that suffer from ranked anxiety too so hopefully it gives u some courage.
Strategy was to force myself to play until i lost a full set. then i could take a breather. ended up have a blast and whooping everyone i came across. Was still a little nervous but was fun too. I suggest coming up with a plan and slowly build on that plan, u got this.

edit: 4/30/2024 just to show how bad my ranked anxiety is my highest rank is still only d4
can i make master? idk, im sure i can , i think that every time i beat masters anyway.
will try and hit masters today, if i can get at least on character there id like to think i would demolish my anxiety.
ps i have bad anxiety irl so im sure thats how it trickles over into online ranked games, its annoying , but i know im not the only one. it just sucks.

I'll keep this in mind. I suffer from it too even tho I know how to play the game. I went from bronze to gold in one sitting then took like 4 days off before I played again. When I'm playing I don't feel anxious once so ever but when I'm thinking about playing it I get anxious.

For me i suppose its cuz its ranked an people seem to swing their rank around ur face and putting their self worth in it. Cuz im totally fine playing casual. But doing the" just quit when u lose a set "helped ALOT. Because if i lost like two - 3 sets in a row i know my anxiety would go hay wire. And i get anxiety even thinking about anxiety. Turns out the people i played seemed to play nervously too. We all human afterall. A true victory would be stop caring so much and have fun. That i am working on

u ever get over it?

My advise just don't play rank if one could get anxiety easily. Rank don't have unlimited rematch so tough luck even one already figuring the opponent tactics. Also your pride ranking status will be on the line. The hurt feels when lose to someone with lower rank. To be fair, losing on casual can get anxiety too but at least it less hurt the mental

I also have ranked anxiety and I never got over it. I don't think I ever will get over it.

My advice:
Play BH or casuals or with friends until you are so confident that you will blaze through ranked for your set goal. Then rinse and repeat. My rank is just the gratification I try to get at the end of a learning curve, before I set myself a new goal. This may not be the right mindset or approach but it is mine.

Also keep in mind that as long as you play the game on a regular base, you don't get worse at it, so even if you lose some points or rank, you will certainly gain it back!

thanks dude I jump into a fg I get anxious overwhelmed going into a match
I just remind myself before playing 'doesn't matter if you loose'. Winning is always more fun but..

If you can't find the fun in losing PvP games might not be for you.

you're right they are not losing sucks and spending 70 to 80 just jump online even if you spend in training mode is extremely disheartening. My point is losing is not fun the learning process is not what makes a fg fun, being able to play how you want is. But all that fun is locked behind learning inputs frame data and it kills the experience for me. Not to hate those who play fgs everyday, I have a little fun playing gb rising

Then perhaps GBVS Rising is more your speed, which is perfectly valid and respectable, it's a fun game as well. It probably is kinder to people who don't want to waste a lot of time grinding in the lab due to a more straightforward combo system and a softer penalty for using the simple inputs compared to SF6's modern. If GBVSR makes you happy, by all means go hang out with Djeeta and her friends.

But fact remains, as long as you play against another human being there is a very real chance you will lose, and that is not necessarily a bad thing. Losing is how you improve, you learned how to walk through falling over many times after all. Or sometimes there is a certain comedic factor in your own defeat as you realise you really did a goof by whiffing an input or thinking this move was ever going to work in that particular situation. Or you just need to sit back and appreciate that your opponent played a very clean match and that you should aspire to be like them some day.

i see so take matches as they are not as wins or loses but as a way to improve? My issue is ranked anxiety and getting overwhelmed as i get into a tight spot. So I switch characters alot. Theres this horned girl in rising big booba but she's really fun, I just feel basic playing rushdowns and feel bad play top tiers i don't know, same with ggst I play dlc then drop it because of thinking is my wins due to skill or luck stuff like that.

Personally I see my rank as the result of my practice, not as a reason to practice. This makes losing rank not a big issue, as it clearly just means I wasn't ready to stay in that rank yet. The real reason to play should be the challenge itself. The joy of figuring out an opponent's habits and figuring out the right counter to the situation.

Not worrying about losing rank is also going to help with mental stack a lot as you're not stressing about it, thus making you less likely to make mistakes.

And worse come to worse, you can always go go to the hub and challenge some opponents who are much higher rank than yours, after five sets with them people in your own rank will feel a LOT easier.

But at the end of the day, no matter the mode, you aren't really playing for anything meaningful, losing a rank won't cost you your job, you'll still be able to pay your bills, it's not like you're in the Last Chance Qualifier at Capcom Cup and that one win will make the difference between making at least $2000 and going home empty handed. Just have fun~

i think what will be hard but necessary is to humble urself, as in lose alot of points then gain them back, maybe not on purpose but if u do that a couple of times then u will know its no big deal, they are just points that will come back
