[deck] Game doesn't let me input my character name, can't even get in

I bought it for my Steam Deck, but after checking that my capcom ID works fine, the game prompts me to type in my character name, but there is no way, no input, nothing that lets me type it in. The usual blinking vertical line in the text box doesn't appear. If I press a button in what's supposed to be the text box, the game just doesn't let me press any more buttons.

I think there's a way to bring up a virtual keyboard on the Steam deck. I'd look in to that. I remember being kind of confused at first when I booted the game and had to put down my arcade stick and go grab my computer keyboard.

Of course, for the people who might not know, the universal input for that is STEAM + X.
As I said, sadly, none of the conventional inputs and methods work. I'm grasping at straws at the moment.

yeah for now either wait on fix or run on a desktop. Personally, playing in offline mode is fine for me since I just wanna mess around with the mechanics. I’m gonna mess with some of the bindings as well to see if I can’t finagle a solution.

From a friend they say you gotta run it in gaming mode, desktop mode gives problems with brining up the virtual keyboard. Hopefully it helps!

Unfortunately the issue persists in gaming mode. I have tried switching back and forth to see if that might help but to no avail.

I'm sorry, maybe I don't know what "gaming mode" is? As in running from the gaming mode it boots up with, as opposed to booting from the desktop? Is that it?

Either way, I managed to enter my name from a desktop PC and I am now able to run it-- but lo and behold, the game is now suffering severe crashes since the Rashid update. Girl, as it that weren't enough… we can't catch a break.

im having the same issue and not sure how to get it to work. i don't have another pc to launch it on to fix it

Lol I RMA’d my deck because of sticky buttons anyways. Im hoping this issue will be fixed by the time I get it back

Yeah, it's an incredible position to be in. I just happened to have a PC I could borrow to download, install, log in and delete it on. That's just wild, what a hassle and for what? It is truly disrepectful to all the users who spend money to enjoy the game.

Also, now I can run it, but it crashes before some matches, especially against Rashid, and apparently it's a known issue-- I'm at a a loss for words here, I dunno.

I do not remember how I dealt with that.
But I can play docked with a keyboard to type stuff.
In the end I can play on deck and have more than 400 hours on it.

If this is still an actual issue, you can download a bluetooth mouse and keyboard app on your phone and connect to the steam deck and just type it on your phone.

It's what I do on vacation to watch streaming sites on the hotel TV.
