They were never a thing. Ryu has always been training-sexual and Chun-Li was too focused on avenging her father for most of her life to have any kind of love life.

I remember watching the old 80's or 90's cartoon and it seemed like Chun was super into Guile. She was always chasing after him, throwing herself into danger for him, and I remember she would get all pissy and butt hurt when Guile would be reminiscing his ex.
