Problem with L1/LB on Dualshock 4
Hey,

I've been playing the game just fine up until yesterday when I was in practice mode while quieing for ranked. During practice all my controls worked as usual but as soon as I joined the ranked match my L1-button started acting as my L2.

Instead of L1 doing my drive impact it does the drive parry as was mapped to my L2-button previously. The weird thing is that L1 stopped working altogether in the menus as well, so I can't use it for scrolling the menus either.

I've tried:
Remapping the controls
Restarting everything (Steam, PC, Controller)
Tried 2 different DualShock 4 controllers (Same result with both)
Repairing Sreet Fighter 6
Reinstalling Street Fighter 6

This problem is making me lose my mind, has anyone experienced anything similar and if so, did you find a fix for it? P.S The controllers work fine in other games, it's just SF6.

Did you go to the character option menu and check the controller inputs there? You enter them per character (but can apply those settings to all characters - there's a prompt at the bottom of the screen).

There's more than one place to change bindings, and online games are based on the selection in that character menu.

I just looked at that and tried it to no avail, thank you though. The weird thing is that L1 doesn't work in the menus either, it acts as either L2 or not at all. I've tried two different controllers and the problem is consistant. It worked flawlessly up until yesterday. I appreciate the help either way!

Try using DS4Windows. It translates PS controllers to XBox controllers, bypassing any weird stuff Steam is doing to PS controllers.
If there's still an issue, maybe it's your USB cable, OR Steam controller config.

I use an 8BitDo dongle for wireless PS4/5 pad connection to my PCs (and Switch).

I tested mine DS4 and it works fine.
Try to untick everything is steam settings -> controller. Including Playstation controller. Or if it's unticked then do the opposite.
The game works fine for me without using DS4Windows - same as every other fighting game.

BTW: What do you mean your L1 started acting as L2? What your buttons do? Can you reassign? By default L1 is Drive Impact and L2 is parry.

Samvega - I've tried wireless and wired, still not working. Thanks for the tips and information though. Also tried DS4 which works flawlessly with other games but can't get it to work with SF6.

C1REX-PL - Both my controllers also worked fine up until yesterday, which is why im scratching my head at this one... I'll try the steam settings boxes.

Yeah regarding L1 acting as L2, I'm not sure how to word it but... - in some menus you can scroll left/right with L1/R1 and in the lower menu you can scroll with L2/R2. In these menus whenever I click L1 it scrolls left in the L2-menu, aka L1 is acting as L2.

In game whenever I push L1 now it Parries, but it also parries whenever I push L2. I can't untie them/they act as the same button. Hope it's somewhat clear what I mean, cheers.

update, got the input working heres what worked for me:

- disabled steam input for sf6 and playstation config support
- installed ds4-windows, this guide was helpful https://ds4-windows.com/get-started/#elementor-toc__heading-anchor-18

I'm still having this same issue where my L1 (lb) is only recognized as L2 (LT). Weirdly enough, it applies to my madcatz fightstick and xbox elite controllers but not my switch pro controller.

Unfortunately ds4 windows doesn't work for the fightstick or xbox controllers so i still haven't found a workaround for those.

Also notably, this issue only happens with sf6 and not other games. Both steam and hardwaretester both recognize my inputs normally.

Having this issue now with a new Keybox Fusion, and its seems Brook UFB-powered controllers aren't supported by DS4win. L1 and L2 worked PERFECTLY during the first session, but now I'm having the same issue as OP. idk what to do w/o DS4win as a workaround. :/

Take a look to the controller config direct to the game, the function of the button can be wrong. I was having this same issue and solved after bind the correct function to the L1/LB button.

Anyone figured the solution to this? Happen with my Razer Kitsune and it is ONLY with SF6

Chiming in to say that I've now started having the same problem. I'm using a Qanba Obsidian 2 and the issue is specific to SF6. Worked perfectly fine from launch until just now for some reason.

Found a solution to this. Shoot me a message, I can’t post it here right now I’m using my phone.

Temporary solution: I changed the input switch on my fight stick from PC to PS4/PS5 and it resolved the issue.
