Recommend some good PC controllers?
I'm using an XBox Series X|S controller at the moment and, I suspect, the dpad is crapping out.
For some reason, my Right to Left DP is hit and miss, coming out maybe 7/10 times, with the rest resulting in just a punch. Same with the jin rai kick. Most of the time it works as it should, but a few times a dash pops out and ruins my momentum.

I've looked at youtube videos of controller options before, but they all tend to recommend going for "leverless" controllers, the button bashing sort of contraptions and I just don't think I'd be good with them - not sure if I can get my head around using them!

I'm just used to standard games console controllers, preferring larger old XBox 360 controllers ideally.

I just want something reliable, fast, good for fighting games (fps, racing, open world games work well enough with the Keyboard and mouse or the analogue stick) and well built. I need it to last a year or two, if I'm going to be spending serious money.

What controllers do you guys use? Anyone using PS4/PS5 controllers with the PC? Do you have to faff about with t he settings to get them to work and are they better than xbox series X|S controllers?

Oh and is the XBox Elire 2 controller worth it?

The d-pad on the Xbox one is absolutely terrible, the d-pad is so bad that I used an arcade stick. That's why I don't really trust other controllers from the Xbox. The PS5 was much better, but still not perfect. I'm using fighting commander OCTA now and it's without exaggeration the best controller I've held so far, not only for SF, but for other fighting games as well, as the d-pad is the exact opposite of the Xbox.

Some of the biggest and best players are on pad.
And most of them on d4.

CEO champ Menard is on ps pad, punk on ps pad, Akainu on ps pad and etc.

Menard clowned on all the stick/hitbox users.

The stick/hitbox elitists can sit in a corner.

Now list the number of players who do not use a PS4 controller. Do I really need to tell you that the list will be much longer? I watched the SF6 tournament and no one there used a PS4 controller.
There are just a few people who are very used to the PS4 counterroller and see no point in retraining.

that (and the controller layout itself) is the core reason why ive always preferred the PS controllers over Xbox

What tourney did you watch? CEO had pad players and a pad player won first place.
Kumite had pad players and a pad player dominated there.
Why you so delusional about pad players?
I see them in every tourney. A lot of them. Except for maybe Japan tourneys because these players live in arcade.

A pad player Akainu clowned on Oil King. Who is one of the best stick users.

You also do not provide your personal experience and opinion on the PS4 controller. The PS4 is a very unpleasant thing in terms of the tactile sensation of using it. This controller is just unpleasant to play on. So saying "use that thing that three whole people are using" is really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ advice, to be honest.
I mean, instead of trying to explain and compare, you say: look, someone at the tournament came with a PS4 controller.
Edit: and if someone shows up at a tournament and starts using a steering wheel, will you start claiming that the steering wheel is a very good kind of controller for fighting games?

a lot of the younger players that didn't grow up playing in arcades use Pad. and it'll get increasingly more common as time goes on as arcades these days are scarce and disappearing in most places. and a fight stick comes with a hefty premium over the pad you get with the console purchase
