If that is an issue id focus on not getting cornered. maybe hit confirming better, or taking corner carry combos to better your screen position vs damage
Also what the other guy said, EX DP their strings from time to time, if nothing else it will make them pause inbetween
I do this from time to time, but probably not nearly as much as I should, that's true.
This is another thing that I'm underutilising and will try to use a bit more.
Alright guys, I've got a few things to focus on, I'll try them out during the next few days and see if I get better, thanks a lot.
Also I'm changing the title of this post to something less salty.
Sometimes, you need to allow yourself to be in 'the zone' to read your opponent better. Ways to reach 'the zone' vary, but it's about being relaxed, present, and focused on the game.
Try not to play while tired, or stressed. Optimal mental and physical states do exist, so try to be in those spaces while playing.
You don't win games, You win the interactions in the games, and if you win enough of those you'll win overall.
One of the things that all good fighting game players profess to needing is pattern recognition. For top level players they're always looking for patterns they can abuse or need to keep in mind.
If you're getting stuck in the corner, watch the blockstrings they use. Pay attention and don't worry about fighting out. Be in the moment and watch for patterns and just block. Fighting game players are creatures of habit, and go by the saying that "if it works, keep doing it". What's probably happening is they are getting you with the same thing, as you're probably trying to stop something without understanding how it's hitting you. Just watch, keep your fingers on the throw tech button and watch for the red flash. It's a lot, and you'll honestly get hit with it for a few rounds, but until you start to try and keep mental notes about patterns, you're going to keep getting it. Once you see the string, you can start to see where there's an opening. There's always an opening, but most of the time, when you're cornered, you panic and hit the DI button or spam throw tech. Sometimes the best solution is to sit, block, gather data and take a few throws.
Think of it this way you're playing the long game and gathering player data on combos and strategies that a character can use, and you're building a mental reference guide with each loss.
This is why I prefer casual matches, as it's going to take a lot more than a best of 3 to learn matchups.
Also Drive impact the holy hell outta them and make them hate this game.
I hate that stupid character.
Ryu pretty honest so idk. I don't have to much trouble with him unless I make bad decisions.
Credentials: Diamond 2 juri main.
The other posters gave some pretty sound tips so i'm sure something will work out for you.
