Honest question- doesn't DI stuff that pretty hard?
Yes, you can DI every version on reaction I think. Good kens will put a decent mental stack on you before throwing it out.

It does actually. Throw out H dragonlash a few times, and your opponent becomes overly eager to DI it. So, every once in a while, you throw a L at the same distance or just do the DP wiggle (that ♥♥♥♥ works just as well actually). The L version will whiff from max H distance giving you enough time to DI. Then, they stop for a little while.

Jinrai kicks is more DI-able. Especially the L version.

The real key to stopping Dragonlash kick is to jab Ken out of it then pressure him or to block the lower versions of it and punish accordingly. If you can Pparry it, that is a sign that real neutral needs to be played. Whether Ken cares or not, who's to say?

But actually just doing it over and over is a quick way to die. Only really a memeable move to those that can't deal with +1 moves (same guys that had trouble with GGS Sol Far S being a +2 mid)

I think all players have gimmicks, so I chalk it up to just learning when and how to block them. For me, the two things that got me were:
That jinrai 3-hit kick combo that ends in a low kick to your shin. If you don't block that low, they do it again, but this time they go overhead. I played casuals with a platinum ken for 19 games and this was one thing that got me every once in a while, and there are rounds where it just looked like one long combo because I was getting high-lowed so much. I just ended up blocking low and backdashing after the first 3 hits to get out of the blender.

The other is that dragon slash to get in. Sometimes it feels safe, and sometimes I jab hit confirmed out of it, but that's just my lack of frame data knowledge about it.

Anyway, it's his bag, and I'm sure our characters all have their bag. I play Marisa and there are things I know I get away with at the start of a long set, but good players figure it out through trial and error. It helps when you play more than 3 rounds against am opponent so you can really get past the gimmicks and find out how good their ground game, footsies and fundamentals are. Which is why I stick to casuals.

Don't lie, that's what you'd do regardless because you're trash.

This is the type of player that is upset about a telegraphed +1 mid. My guy, don't talk about trash when you have a whole ass review complaining about DI and shotos. The stuff of scrubquote mediocrity actually lmfao

Not to mention you never even made gold in SFV, you never made Frieza clan rank in DBFZ (which is like high bronze), and you never played a single ranked match of Injustice 2 (all the fighting games in your library) and I am pretty sure the same is true for this game. So, yeah, talk about who is trash some more my guy lol

I mean, I think calling him the "most balanced" is a bit disingenuous. A lot of players are putting him in S tier right now for good reason, his corner carry is the best its ever been and he has some amazing close-range buttons. He can rush you down with low pokes to start his pressure, which works really well when you know the opponent is already actively looking to punish things like fireball and dragonlash and probably isn't going to react to a drive rush. One opening and he can convert into tatsu and put you in the corner, it's kinda nuts. I wouldn't say a lot of his buttons are easy to punish either, he has some really solid frametraps, and unless the ken you're fighting is throwing out unsafe moves willy-nilly, it can be really scary trying to take your turn back.

Not broken, but I wouldn't call him perfectly balanced either, I think his corner carry needs some adjustments. He's a super good character in this game.

parry fireballs, jump over them. pressure in to corner. or just challenge with your own character's projectile (if you EX it, you will win the trade usually and damage them in the process)

If you hate one of the game’s main characters it’s not because everyone who plays them is bad, you just suck at the game. Like you suck really bad.

Try playing against JP or Zangief while noobwhining about projectiles or throws see where that gets you.

just wait until he meets a decent guile. he'll whine about never being able to approach him lol

I do think Ken is pretty balanced, but the core of SF6 is dumb as hell. Play random/dumb, steamroll past the neutral, play jab corner throw loops drive impact fighter 6 and Ken is very GOOD at that. Game is missing a lot of depth right now and is very one dimensional. The game rewards random plays, but simultaneously its the most predictable boring thing imaginable. Always plays out the same. You'll see the same thing time and time again. Nothing interesting happens in the corner, but that's where everything leads to as everyone has crazy strong corner carry.

Corner = death, but everything takes you to the corner or everyone has some ridiculous mobility tool (DR/Run/Teleport) devolving the game into jab fighter. The neutral largely doesn't exist. Half the cast doesn't have medium buttons worth anything. They've got 25% health or under? They're likely going to DI. You've got above 50% health? You'll probably DI.

There's not a lot going on under the hood of this game.

I rarely get people to rematch my guile. Its frustrating and getting hard fpr me to learn
projectiles in this game are almost as weak as they are in sf3. :ccskull:

If your opponent is that predictable, then it should be easy to figure out a way to beat them.
Clearly, they have no plans for what happens should their DPs and fireballs fail to get them victory?

This seems a more "you" problem, than them.
