But to be clear I was also criticizing people who are going after the OP but then fetishize characters themselves but act morally superior about it.

The benefit to there hypocritical behavior is that not only do they get to feel superior and get virtue signaling points, but they simultaneously get to advocate for their own personal fetishes to not only be included, but be accepted as the default standard that we should either accept or adopt in order to maintain speaking privileges.
