Free? What's the catch?
Apparently:
-Subscription based service.
-Free users get limited options
-Can only use up to 45 minutes

Conclusion: Stick to regular facerig.

Seems like it. Not worth the "technical upgrade"

Free until you want to use your own models or dont want to be limited to 45 min and watermark...

Also using your own models that you spent your own time working on is something they make you pay to use... They are litterally ripping off content creators. If this logic applied to youtube, every youtube would have to PAY to UPLOAD anything... Imagine if that was the case. It would be a pretty empty gloomy place. A lot of artists are backing off now as making models for anyone means they have to pay stupid fees to test or use their own creations. Makes zero sense. Yes you pay for this program to make it track. But they make you pay to add it as well on top of the program. Which already has stupid limitations. They are just anticonsumer devs who seemed to have fallen into the trap of alinating anyone besides rich youtubers...

I'd argue that some ass-clown probably told them (devs) they are under-monetised, etc. and gave them a few ridiculous examples (like EA/ACtivision/etc) and filled their heads with imaginary numbers without any hard form of data evidence.

That is usually how this works, and while that works for big companies with products with a broad userbase or a company userbase, it certainly does not for niche products, especially if you limit the userbase' (creative) freedom more than the CCP does with Hongkong.

So just wanted to remind you guys that after the Beta feedback we have extended the broadcast limit to 90 minutes.
Also please respect Steam's derogatory/offensive language guidelines, or we will be forced to delete posts, and that's something we'd like to avoid.

I paid full retail for the pro version of FaceRig because I liked the idea and it seemed fun. But I am NOT making any money from its use, and an ongoing subscription fee for this seems like a monetezation model that will drive people away (include me) in droves.

Are you changing your target market to "just people whose stream income will pay for this?" Because if not, you're really putting a giant obstacle between customers and Animaze.

They seem to be. All their "excuses" so far has implied Vtubers earning cash using software... and everyone else is just undermined and only way to upload and use models for free is steamworkshop. Which is not optimal if you intend to have private models... they seem to have intentionally limited the use of peoples own work in stupid ways.

No subscription is actively required unless the user makes $500 a month in revenue. Until that point, one can choose to use the free version, if one does not want to subscribe.

Users can choose to mark their avatars as either Private, Public or Friends Only when they upload an avatar on the Workshop. The avatar won't be public unless its creator wants to.

My question to the devs: To solve the dilemma of people wanting to share their work but don't want to do so for free, will there be options for portions of the sub-fee they're paying to go towards paying those creators of new facerig animations? This way, people will be more enticed to make avatars etc. and the sub fee will be put to good use

...except that from what I have heard so far, "free" means you get hard limits on how long you can even USE the software. I have to say, while the new software looks like you are working hard to make it an improvement over FaceRig, your monetezation model is incredibly offputting.

Seriously, an improved FaceRig should have you pretty much DROWNING in excited users, but you're doing the same kinds of things that make people hate companies like EA. Your monetization model literally seems mean spirited and punitive. Even pretty obvious requests like one I made earlier, asking for what should be a no-brainer (one basic, not scary looking male and one basic, non-scary-looking female avatar as part of the basic package) are being met with pushback. You literally told me what amounts to "No. Go Pay someone to make you a custom avatar."

This is the kind of thing that will earn you a reputation as being prone to ignoring your customer base, or even mistreating it. And I have to say, based on what I am seeing so far, Animaze could cook my meals and balance my checkbook, but as it stands I'm feeling like you folks really, REALLY don't want my business. I *want* to be thrilled to buy Animaze, but the negatives you folks are doing are just pulling the rug out from under my enthusiasm.

Really: Changing to a subscription model is a bad look. In the software industry it's pretty much synonymous with greed. Hearing a BLAZINGLY OBVIOUS suggestion about something that should absolutely be included in the basic package and telling a user "go pay someone to do something that we should have as literally the FIRST MODEL WE RELEASE" is simply dismissive. I mean, wow, how is it that you do not recognize that the absolute first models you should have in the package are "generic male 1 and generic female 1" before you start thinking "let's start with cartoon sharks?"

And business-wise your plan is self-defeating, because the people here are, in no small part, people who showed up because they own FaceRig. You're literally working doubletime to convince the people who should be breaking down your door to buy Animaze to skip it entirely and just keep using FaceRig. Why would the bulk of your existing customer base, who already paid for FaceRig, want to upgrade to a package that will cost them an arm and a leg if they want to make any real use of it, and which is being developed by people who seem less-than-enthusiastic to hear feedback from paying customers?

Last time I uploaded anything to the workshop it was automatically put public... Unless it has changed. But it seems very uneccesarry compared to just having it locally stored in the software like just now. I dont see why this is so hard xxD
