Can't get up the stairs

So I'm at the point of figuring out the which apartment is Apartment # 9. I know which apt it is but the steps going up is blocked. There is no interactivity on the floor plan and there are no sheets to submit. So what next? I'm just stuck standing next to the boss.

Hey! Sorry to hear that, and thanks for your report. (:

If your objective is still to investigate the floor plan, you need to start Investigation Mode (space bar) first to do so. Once it's done, Gary will let you walk past. If you already did that, your next objective is to find the right apartment. The stairs are blocked off because they're damaged, so you need to find another way up. Go all the way down, then to the right and out of the building again. Go up all the stairs and re-enter the building via the plank on the balcony. Once back inside, you'll have access to all the other floors.
