French patch release day = I'll be there
The day your game (games) will be translated into French, I buy it directly.
Until then, I wish other countries who are lucky enough to have this PRIVILEGE good game.

And I add to this game all the others games of your studio:
Lacuna - A Sci-Fi Black Adventure
Encodya
Epic Car Factory
Highrisers

It's sad I find, to propose Simplified Chinese - Japanese - Russian - Korean and no French???? But ok

Come on developer friends, please think of us.
I'll give it a try, because if your game stays in English unfortunately I'll pass my way.

I may be radical in your eyes, but I don't give any more time to games that are no longer translated into French.
Because in these times it doesn't cost anything at all or almost nothing to have a translation.

Most of the time, it's the players themselves who translate the games, but it's sad to see that.

In the 90's all the games were translated and even with SUPERB voices in French.
Sad to see that when you know that video games are MUCH but MUCH more profitable than in the past.

Tampis for me (you), because frankly there are a lot of other games to do, which we made a translation in French

Hi there and thank you for your passion and dedication.
However, on thing should be totally clear:

This is quite far from the reality. Particularly text-heavy games like Lacuna can get really expensive being translated in one or more languages.
Especially, we want to provide great quality with our games, including the translations and therefore we always prefer professional partners handling those, simply for the best gameplay experience for the players.

But, we will surely have a look into this and without making promises.
Once again, thank you for your passion and please keep it up!

First of all, I would like to start by thanking you for answering me.
It's already a good start :-)

But you tell me about Lacuna , that it is much too expensive because there are many texts.
I'm not saying that there are no texts to be translated...
But when I see that you have translated it into :
Anglais
Allemand
Chinois simplifié
Japonais
Russe
Coréen ....

Ehhh how can I say...
I don't understand the lack of French at all, but it's up to you.
You certainly have good reasons for that.

But I'm putting my hand up, that if you give (let's say 4 or 5 hundred €), to a team of passionate translators they'll do the job.

But frankly it's starting to get embarrassing friends. Because ALL your games, and I mean ALL your games.
They are never translated into French, it's so stupid, I can hardly believe it.

But then again, it's your decision.

THANK YOU in any case for answering me so quickly.

Hey,
We can really understand that you want to play games that you like or that are interesting in your native language. However, please note that a large part of the players in this world speak English and English is a world language. Especially in the European region, English is very widespread and can be used as an alternative to your native language.

About 40 percent of all players on Steam speak English. Directly after that come Simplified Chinese and Russian with about 18 and 12 percent, respectively, and Spanish with 6 percent. Italian only accounts for about 1 percent, but the main developer, Nicola, is Italian. This makes the premise quite different, of course. English is indispensable for the European market, just as Simplified Chinese is for the Asian region.

Thank you very much for your feedback, and we will keep it in mind. However, at this point we can't make any promises that there will be a French translation. As Xer0 also said.

Of course, we could resort to a fan translation or hire someone to do a translation for little money. However, as Xer0 also said, we have professional partners that we work with. And our standard is to have a professional translation done, rather than just hiring anyone to do it.

Thank you for your understanding!

Kind regards and have a nice day!

How about the French (or German) percentage ? (just curious ;-)) - Your argument is a bit biased here, don't you think ? I guess it would also be wise to take into account which people (/ the native speakers) are mostly buying the games in their languages - not only speaking it. :cybereye:
Donc je m'excuse de parler en français, mais j'en ai marre de traduire tout le temps.

Donc c'est juste pour vous souhaiter alors une bonne continuation, et courage pour l'avenir de votre jeu pour que vous puisiez vous créer un chemin dans cette jungle (STEAM).
C'est sûr que des Français, il y en auras pas des milliers, sans traduction.
Mais j'ai compris, ou j'essaye de comprendre :-)

Brefff, MERCI de m'avoir répondu encore

And as I am a GENTLE person, I will translate it for you :-)

So I apologize for speaking in French, but I'm tired of translating all the time. (Just before my NATURE catches me) :-) )

So it's just to wish you then a good continuation, and courage for the future of your game so that you can create a path in this jungle (STEAM).
For sure, there won't be thousands of French people without translation.
But I understood, or I try to understand :-)

Anyway, THANK YOU for answering me again.

German comes right after Spanish. :D

"English is indispensable for the European market, just as Simplified Chinese is for the Asian region"

No, chinese is essential for Chinese market, none of other asian country, but yeah there is a lot of habitant in china...

That said for a text heavy game, a translation is a must have to play even if english is the world language and blablabla...

Hey,
I think we've stated out why there will be the Languages available which are listed on the store page and why others are not right now. Localizations for text heavy games are quite expensive. While bigger companies can afford to translate every game they release in the most important Languages, we can't. So we always have to weigh it. It's totally understandable that you want to play a game in your mother language, but we can't promise this at the moment. :)

+1 for french translation

How many words we're talking about here approximately?

Hello

I bought your game. But my level of English is too low. I can't play it now.
Why not localise the game into different languages at the beginning. There are automatic translation software (Deepl ....). You can ask people to identify translation errors and then make updates. For this game many people are frustrated not to have the French language.
Your studio is European and a little effort on Italian and Spanish would not hurt. It's always the Anglo-Saxon domination for the language.
A little effort. The distribution on Steam is almost worldwide.

Sincerely

Hey,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having some troubles with English. But you can see on the store page, which Languages are available. Why there is no French, Italian or Spanish was already stated in this thread. If we add some new languages, we will announce this, so you'll know about this! :)
phimseto May 20, 2021 @ 3:33pm
Just to add some more perspective, it isn't just about paying for localization in a given language. Any additions like that require extensive QA testing, so even if you crowdsourced a translation, there's no way to escape the localization QA costs and those add up extraordinarily and prohibitively fast. Unless you are a major publisher, additional language support is a significant ask for any studio. That said, I hope the game does well enough to allow for more language support one day.

Best of luck to the dev team!

Thank you so much for the feedback and kind words @phimseto
No promises so far, but we will have a look into this for sure!
As @Skoddy mendtioned stay tuned, as we surely will announce any kind of news/updates across our official channels, if we add e.g. new languages at any time.

Hello
I understand your problem of costs and profitability. Unfortunately, this is the case for many untranslated games. But if you look at the forum, your style of game is appealing. Perhaps a simple translation (with a few words of untranslated English) would already please.

Sincerely
