Easier version
I know the game is rogutelite, but.. Is there any possiblity add a function to disable flood, unlimited runs etc to make game easier?

My spouse cannot keep up with the game. I truly like the concept but...

I'll see if we can add some more options in the Custom Game settings.

We're also experimenting and testing some stuff to make it easier and less frustrating. Will keep you posted.

thank you very much!! it would be awesome to tweak all the possible settings.

I have to agree with the OP ... I think the mechanic we have the hardest time with is 'friendly fire' where if we are together and need to kill an enemy, getting clear of the other person quickly to make a stone throw more often then not you hit the other player, losing their loot and then the other gets hit for damage anyway. Seems like a fun game otherwise but we threw in the towel after an hour.

@Ilke, in v1.0.21.11 we added auto-aim and made stomping on enemies easier. Check out the patch notes. Turning off flood (or increasing time) and infinite runs will be in the next patch.

@MB Geek, I think auto-aim will solve the issue you mentioned.

You're going to make the game too easy if you start adding all these things. This is supposed to target the ppl that like Spelunky. There's no skill if you make it auto aim. The further you stray from making it a spelunky like, the less that audience will be inclined to buy it if they enjoy a challenge.
A simple solution for this would be to disable achievements if ppl start using custom stuff. Both sides are then happy. Also, if there's a Switch version, you should add achievements in the game menu to give the ppl looking for a challenge an initiative to want to get the game and play it on normal mode.
I wasn't too happy about being forced to use 2 ppl, but I'm more open to it now. I would just compare it to when you have to carry the dog in Spelunky.
Lastly, I'm curious if there will eventually be a physical version for Switch. I'm holding out buying it on Switch until this hopefully happens. Thank you.

Hi Kenny,
The auto-aim is only for Easy mode. I was playing Falling Out Coop/VS with an avid Spelunky player on twitch using Steam Remote Play Together, and he welcomed the auto-aim when throwing stuff at enemies. I prefer it off :). In fact you can turn it off from settings.

And yes, when doing a custom game, it will disable hi-scores and achievements - the player is warned before entering the game.

Re: physical version for Switch, I would love that, but unfortunately it's very costly to do. So sadly, I don't think there's going to be a physical version. :(

Sorry but, some people are not "eat sleep video games" people. we need an easier mode because it is not the end of the world. you can always use SAM to unlock everything. video games are not the ONLY one aspect of life but ONE aspect.

Thanks!!

Thanks for the reply Mr. Dev. I think companies like limited run only get paid after they port and sell your copies. Good to know you're making the game for ppl who want custom mode, and for ppl who want a challenge. Hopefully I'll see a physical version sometime in the future. Also, I think this game isn't getting out there enough. Spelunky fans would definitely consider playing this game. Reach out to youtube indy game channels and ask them if they could review your game. It usually helps a good amount.

ilke (the other dude), you really should calm down with the caps and !!!, cause I mentioned a way to cater to both sides. I wasn't just saying to make the game challenging. You mention ppl who eat sleep play games like they take things too seriously, but here you are getting upset just because someone has a different opinion. And before you say something about my comment again, know I didn't cap entire words and add !!! Chillax

Thanks Kenny. I am trying contacting streamers/youtubers but unless you have a big marketing budget, the big youtube channels are out of reach (A YT video/Twitch stream can cost between $5-10k with the big ones). I will try again though, because sometimes they still play what they want to play. Thanks for your compliments.

As regarding to different opinions, let's keep the discussion cool. We're all here to play games and have fun. :)

I'm trying my best to keep the challenge in the game, but at the same time make the Easy mode welcoming for new players who perhaps don't want such a challenge. For me it's very difficult to judge the "easiness", as I've been playing it a lot especially with my kids. So I'm listening to what is frustrating players and tweaking when it makes sense to tweak.

Btw, the patch will probably come out later today ilke, with the custom game options. Final stages of testing ;). Will ping you here when it's live.

Regards
Nev

I think the best way to judge everything is to continue to get feedback and patch it accordingly. Having different modes is a simple fix, so it works for everyone.
As far as the big ones on YT, screw them! That's an insane asking price for them. Greedy pigs! There are plenty of good ones that don't cost anything like clemmygames or tenorgames ( i think that's how the 2nd one is spelled ). I'll find what I can and let you know.

Thanks Kenny! I will definitely contact your suggestions.

No problem ;) Also get in contact with Vinny from Vinesauce. He's a huge Spelunky fan, so this should definitely interest him. He's very popular on YT, and he won't charge you a cent.
Nev the Dev. I like that :D

LOL! You're the second one who used "Nev the Dev" this week. Suspense, the guy I mentioned, also named the twitch stream we did together like that: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1647026192

Thanks for the tip on Vinny
