The AI is very moronic and practically beg you to shoot them and if youre foolish enough to stand out in the open then of course you're going to eventually get shot up. Use tactics and equipment to your advantage. Part of tactics is having patience which you clearly lack due to how quickly you give up on games.
This isnt an RPG. You're not intended to have multiple saves. The idea with this game and older R6 games is plan ahead and get it right or try again. Nowadays it seems every child expects an auto win button or something. If you fail try again but plan and execute differently.
Don't engage entrenched enemies or in open ground. Bait them or ambush them so that you have the tactical advantage. move slow and pay attention to your reticle. use single shot for better accuracy. move your squads so they they can either support or distract the enemies you wish to engage.
Yes, the AI is moronic. That is the problem. It is ridiculous and overpowered.
I like challenging games. I've played and completed the Dark Souls/Demons Souls games with each game at least around 80 hours on just one account. Adding all, its several hundred hours for all.
I've played Ghost Recon when it first came out in the late 1990s along with other games like this like Delta Force, Rainbow Six, Swat, Diablo etc. They're not as horrendous as this one is.
When I said moronic I was stating they're very simplistic and easy to beat. They're far from OP. OP would be trying Insurgency-Hunt-40 bots-Brutal-Peak with the current build.
If you had the game before and didn't like it why bother with it again?
The game is tougher than I though albeit a bit more fun.
Currently I'm playing island thunder on veteran and have two missions to go,
I'm really enjoying it and will play through the first two again on veteran when I'm done with island thunder.
Tbh i reckon ghost recon is the best FPS I've ever played.
What are you talking about ? The range they hit you is just realistic and the effect of weapons they use is also realistic.
This is the only game I know, the AI actually aims in at you before he's shooting at you.
It's the same as in real life, when they see you, you have already lost ! So you have to stay " stealth " and wipe them out before they even know you are there.
You also said you've played Ghost Recon when it came out and it wasn't this horrible. But to be honest, desert siege is exactly the same as the standard Ghost Recon, just with some more weapons, uniforms and maps. That's all. The AIs are not different except their outfit.

With that in mind, yeah. The AI can be pretty clueless sometimes.
The game is still fun, I promise you. Don't let that ruin a very good game for you. If you have to, play on the easier difficulty.
Damn, can't say I had it happen before, I can't really give any advice since I've never heard of it happening before, can you at least start your current mission from the campaign menu?
BTW the first person to respond to you was an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
I played on Normal and even then the AI's pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
I honestly think it's nearly a meme with "rational" Clancy fans how the AI in any Clancy old Singleplayer game that isn't Sum of all Fears (And sometimes even then) is basically an aimbot, it's part of the reason I wish Ubisoft still made new/remade the old tactical shooters, since just remove the cheating AI and it'd be far better. (Which Advanced Warfighter for PC kinda did.)
I outright play Rainbow Six with the auto-aim feature since it lets you at least aim as fast as they do.
A big piece of advice, AI accuracy seems to be determined by stance, if you're standing, they'll basically always headshot you instantly, if you're prone and leaning around a corner, they tend to have alot more trouble hitting you.
Also throw frag grenades around corners in buildings if possible.
It's also basically proven how they'll sometimes instantly nail you in the head, sometimes when they weren't even looking at you so they'll do a suddenly 45-at-least-degree turn and instantly headshot the player.
If they start sprinting (which you cannot do) they also have perfect accuracy once they stop sprinting, while the player's slower run completely destroys their accuracy.
The Classic Clancy AI is dumb but Red Storm gave them a few cheats and terminator-like accuracy to compensate.
