Half-Life: Alyx - Final Hours

Half-Life: Alyx - Final Hours

I had a good laugh at the description.
"the company’s past decade of game development, including the return of Half-Life."

Which isn't saying much. They had Portal 2 (2011) and after that it was only DOTA 2 (2013) which could be said it's not even Valves as they just took it from Blizzard, Artifact (2018) the failed cash grab of a card game that died on arrival if anyone remembers, and now Half-life Alyx (2020) which is a decent VR game, but nowhere near the 10/10 some people gave it and should have been better since there are indie VR titles that work better in certain areas compared to Alyx. So basically 2011, 9 years ago is the last time they released a good original game. Heaven forbid we ever see a Team Fortress 3 or a Left 4 Dead 3 as Valve doesn't know how to count to 3.

cool story bro

So? Valve is a gaming company, a software company and a hardware company. What are you so angry about? Also, Alyx only "decent"? What game did you play?

They clearly developed games, if you read the book. Releasing games is a different story, but they've clearly been working on developing games non-stop this decade.

JINORU. It's times like these I wish the EP2 forum was still around.

Damn he even skipped CSGO, the most played game on Steam. Very smart troll.

Also you have The Lab, the entire SteamVR (which have a lot of minigames inside), Dota Underlords. But hey, just Portal 2, right? Lol
Valve died a long time ago. Steam Direct, paid mods push, mainstreaming lootboxes (gambling) into kid games and them intentionally leaking their handbook for some PR should have been some pretty big, red flags for you:

Please give me an example of an indie VR game that plays better than alyx

"Plays better"?

Could you be any more vague?

In Rick and Morty, you can unscrew detergent caps, alcohol lids, and drink the fluids. You even throw up. In HLA you cannot interact with any objects in the world except to change their orientation. No cans or bottles open.

Heck even Arizona Sunshine has damage fragments when you shoot specific areas on the zombie, arms will blow off, holes will be created. In HLA you can only pop the head, otherwise it's a flat red splatter.

There's no jump button. I sort of get why that's intentionally built in given the level design, but talk about immersion breaking.

There are a few other gripes. Not saying HLA is bad by any means, it is still a great game. But def not 10/10 and other AAAs have nailed the VR formula a little tighter.

I mean, a jump button in VR is the most immersion breaking thing ever. Do you have a jump button in real life?

If you want to jump in Alyx just jump in real life lol. It doesn't do anything other than a sound since it's not designed for that type of gameplay (the game was built as a starting point for many VR newcomers).

they only care about the money, why is anyone still surprised?

There are numerous instances where you have to jump to get past obstacles, and they all involve teleportation. A jump button is way more immersive.
Well Blizzard took Team Fortress 2 and made that game with this Tracer girl.

It also isnt the best VR game, and I named several indie ones that were better and game the reasons why.
