Yeah, I was wondering about that too, just found out about it. :(
Yeah this is pretty much why I ain't buying it. I'd rather Steamworks over EoS and have the game borked down the line (much like KF2 was for me, since I can no longer play it in offline mode thanks to EoS update).
Who on earth has gigabit UPLOAD? I've never heard of that. I'm well aware of gigabit internet (via ethernet anyway in terms of achieving those speeds) but my upload is stilll 100. How did you get 1000m upload? Did you contact your ISP? What plan are you using. I've seriously never heard of that. You mean if you run a speedtest, it shows your DL between 800-1k AND your upload at the same? Highly suspect.
Edit: Just looked it up and google fiber actually does have 1gb up 1gb down. Turns out this is indeed possible
Currently, linking an EOS account is only required to bridge PC with Xbox friends and give them a way to invite each other. I'll admit myself, it's a tedious solution.
I just wish you guys didn't have to go through with it, because it's thanks to EoS that I can no longer play games like Killing Floor 2 offline.
Epic has pretty much created this in a way to benefit themselves over providing what has been done before on Steam.
I'm also not a big fan of Epic trying to worm it's way into this ecosystem either, so it makes it harder to play games/want to buy any when I see things like EoS implemented.
I just wish devs worked with Valve and Steamworks on here, instead of every dev instantly jumping only towards EoS.
The upside of EOS is we can code the feature once, and share the code between platforms.
There is no perfect system. Hell, we even get people call Steam a malware.
This was the best option for the game. But we take all comments at heart and myself included, I'm not 100% satisfied with the current setup. I promise we'll make it better.
Currently, if cross-play is not your thing, EOS should be invisible to you.
It just means that folks like me are less inclined to approach said games that feature it (or in cases, go exclusive with Epic).
I just wish Valve worked on Steamworks more, but then again, that would cause a divide between devs using EoS and Steamworks, and then crossplay would be borked.
Though tbf, I've never really been big on crossplay myself. I'm content with playing alongside people on Steam instead of console folks.
Please, can you explain me how can i invite my friend (xbox <-> steam) ? I can't understand how this epic games linking works, where in game can i find it?
I can explain to you how to link steam and epic. You go into your epic account on your browser. After login, on top left corner click on your nickname -> "account". On the left side menu click "connections". From there you have a page with 2 tab menus. Apps and accounts. Add your steam account there. The game should be listed in the "apps" section if the linking its correct.
Clarification is needed, so if you just want to coop with your Steam friends, Epic Online Spyware isn't used at all (unloaded and not sending all your PC and Steam data to Timmy and the chinese at game launch) but the connection between all is being made via P2P or Steamworks?
So, coming back to this, is the MP finally dead so that you can remove that forced crossplay BS no one uses and return to Steamworks and true P2P?
