Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge

Statistiche:
Taunt Spam (The Game)
Spam taunt to max charges, use supers, repeat. Oh and break a few boxes. I thought this developer liked adding some depth to combat in their beat 'em ups.

I still can't get thru arcade on Gnarly with tauntspam. usually the boss characters have interrupt techniques, and their attacks deal higher damage

You need to learn how to have fun.

anyone can have fun with a poorly designed game, doesn't mean the game isn't poorly designed.

people always look for a dominant strategy in everything. it's human ingenuity. the problem is that there are a lot of fun mechanics in TMNT, but the dominant strategy is taunt spamming, making everything else pointless and a waste of programming. essentially, the game as it is now, is simply main combo, taunt, and super, because there is no situation where this isn't the optimal strategy.

it's similar to how if you remove supers, throws are the exact opposite (besides the fling toss), in that there is absolutely no reason to use them. that's bad design too. throws need to be buffed just as taunt spamming needs to be nerfed.

The game is easy, I get it, and you just want an easy game. but, just as you probably don't have fun playing games designed for pre-schoolers, more skilled players don't have fun playing games designed for you.

There are difficulty levels after all, and they do work differently. taunt spam could reasonably stay a thing on chill, but for everything else, it should not be, because the point of difficulty levels is to add challenge.
This is not supposed to be a difficult game. You are making a problem where no problem exists.
quote=the problem is that there are a lot of fun mechanics in TMNT

yes, fun is the problem
I honestly feel it isn't that bad. If it was removed completely, that would make certain boss fights insanely tedious and long for no reason. Good example of this is the Super Shredder fight at the end of the game. He is the ONLY enemy on the field during the entire fight. Do you know how insanely long it would take to fill your super meter in a situation like that?

Not to mention how much longer it was take to defeat him, since he's invincible 99% of the time.

This effect would be multiplied if you're playing 6 player co-op, because then bosses are buffed and take even less damage.

Also keep in mind, on any difficulty except Chill, if you take even a single hit, you lose your entire super bar if it isn't filled, meaning you have to fill it again. The game basically rewards you for not getting hit. You're also left valuable during your taunt. I think this is pretty balance. The taunt mechanic is fine the way it is.

I think this game is more focused around being fun. Though maybe a harder difficulty could implement this.

if it wasn't supposed to be a difficult game, then why is there a difficulty setting? it should only be chill then.

you can always play on chill. the point of difficulty levels is because the game is supposed to be varying levels of challenging. gnarly = difficult, which means it's meant to be difficult
plus it gets repetatively annoying constantly hearing casey jones say "batter up, skuzzbucket" over and over and over again.
there's plenty of depth. running, flipping, jumping, team and back attacks as well as recovery are all missed because yer taunt spamming. its not the developers that dont have depth, its you
The complaint is basically that you are bad at having fun.

+1

I certainly think the game would become less fun if taunts were removed.

If taunt was taken away, then I think they'd also need to remove the mechanic where you lose you're power bar's progress if you take a hit; that mechanic feels too punishing without taunts.

Bosses would also need less life to prevent boss battles from being too tediously long.

I dunno, it just sounds like a less fun game to me. o_o

and you're not? couldn't you have fun if taunts were nerfed?

you already get to keep your power bar's progress when taking a hit, it's called chill.

I think the game would become more fun, because interacting with its systems would become necessary, and bosses would have to be toned down a little to account for a lack of instant, reliable 2-3 second iframes & burst. Imagine being able to do more than a tiny bit of the final boss' HP within the damage window without supers? I'd love that.

The game is very much balanced around super spam, especially in multplayer. And it drags everything else down.
