crossplay?

Also curious about this.

I know that Xbox and PC (via Microsoft Store) get cross-play. But when looking at the multiplayer section, there is also a "Link Epic Account" option that says "Link your Epic account to view and invite your Epic friends".

Then there is the "Crossplay" option with an enable/disable toggle that only says "When crossplay is enabled, partying with supported platforms will be permitted". Of course it doesn't mention what the "supported platforms".

I personally would like to play on PC while my brother plays on PS5, but it's not looking like a possibility. However some sort of confirmation from the devs would be great.

I'm guessing this will end up on Epic soon. Epic only allow MP games on their store if they have crossplay for other PC platforms at a minimum. Without that crossplay, you cannot put games on the Epic Games Store. so at the very least you should (when it arrives on Epic) be able to play with all other PC clients.

I am on windows store version, how to invite users from steam? I only see "Link epic store account"

I do not think it's "all 3". So far it looks like:

Xbox Console <<>> PC (Microsoft Store) <<>> PC (Epic)

PC (Steam) <<>> PC (Epic)

Of course again, it would be great for devs to provide confirmation. It would have been appreciated if this information was provided pre-launch.

Because there's literally no way to invite people on any xbox platform? How do you think?

You can't seem to invite others until you enter the character selection screen by creating a party first, i never really tried though.
