None of the TMNT clones had anything to do with TMNT, except for trying to cash in on the TMNT hype. I find it strange that there's a lot of people who want cross-overs with TMNT rip-offs like Street Sharks, Moo Mesa, etc. that had NEVER been involved with TMNT at all for the entire lifespan of the TMNT franchise.
I don't get it. This isn't Smash Bros. Only reason Usagi Yojimbo is in the DLC is because Sakai has been extremely close to Eastman and Laird and the TMNT franchise for decades, doing multiple cross-overs in almost every iteration of TMNT, and it's awesome Yojimbo's in! But having cross overs with cheap cash grab franchises? That's a bit too much and serves no point.
That said, Tribute did say "extra characters" with an S, so I'm excited to see who else their putting in the game aside from Yojimbo.
Maybe an Utrom character in an exoskeleton body as a reference to the Mirage comic? Utroms were responsible for the ooze that mutated the turtles and Splinter, plus they became close allies in the comics and the 2003 cartoon.
Especially given how the BMFM are getting another revival soon.
I do feel that´s kind of the point. This IPs never served any other purpose than selling toys and be competition to the Turtles, but none succeded. And none of those IPs are having any real use other than being mentioned by TMNT fans asking for crossovers.
NIckelodeon getting the rights so they can run reruns of those series and then maybe have them crossover only makes sense, specially nowadays where everything is an IP multiverse nightmare.
And then you have to factor in that the turtles sadly having lacking in the enemy department for quite some time. THe later TV series mostly run classic reimaginations of older enemies, and plenty of the newer ones generally get lost, you are most likely to find Tokka and Rahazar being reimaginated over different interpretations than Hun or Fishface. When the entire franchise holds itself on nostalgia, it´s only natural people get nostalgic not just about the turtles but everything around them, including their multiple copypasted dopplegangers.
Personally I would love cameos on any form of the Street Sharks AND the Extreme Dinosaurs, The Biker Mices for Mars, Mighty Ducks, Moo Mesa, Stone Protectors, the one there was 4 dinasours with robot armors that I never remember the name ... let´s get crazy and get Sam Keith´s weird knowoff Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters ... Even Road Rovers and The Cheetahmen ... Damn, even The Immature Radioactive Samurai Slugs:

It was a fad born from how good and impactfull culturally the TMNT have being, why not embrace it? Specially since I´m pretty sure the holders of those IPs would be more than ok to get a penny for them being mentioned after 20 years of non existance.
Like you said, other than He-Man, they don´t seem to care that much for any of their IPs.
Besides there are plenty of revivals that actually respect the series and it's fanbase while also introducing the series to a new generation (The CGI show is an example).
I'm surprised nobody called him out on his bull$%#@ at last year's SDCC.
Kevin´s problem, as always, is that he cannot keep his mouth shut. This time around, rather than giving up at the slight criticism, which is what he used to do with comics, he had a contract he had to go alongide, but he couldn´t handle people asking him questions and complaining about the show on twitter, and is there that I think he gave that answer to someone asking if the show was going to be about Tila and not He-Man.
Granted, he f** up by saying anything, but in truth, is also not a show about Tila. It´s a show about all of them, and for anyone who disliked how little He-Man was on the first part, he is more present in the second. And is not like in the first he wasn´t there, but we got to see more of Adam and He-Man was more for standout scenes. For me personally it worked, made the character look more mysterious and goodly. Same as the rest of characters, I wouldn´t have expected Orko or Cringer to have big heroic moments, and FINALLY we understand how Man-At-Arms became the right hand of the king ´cause he´s cool as hell in the show.
Seriously, the show is good. People should just watch it rather than jumping on the hate wagon for external reasons or because everyone else hated it so let´s do that. And if Kevin hadn´t promoted this nobody will know of his involvement in the show, so I don´t know why his behaviour outside of it will affect on the quality of said show.
