DLC Worth it?
I've beaten the game with a mate on gamepass and now I would like to get the dlc but not on gamepass as I'm not sure if the game will be there for ever and then I'll just have a dlc I can't play. So I've decided if I'm getting it i'll get it on here but I don't know if the dlc will actually just be a gimmick or if it'll actually have some longevity, enough for me to spend £20 on buying the game I've already beat and dlc just to play the dlc. if the dlc is actually worth playing through a lot like a really fun roguelite then I'd do it but I'm just not sure how many hours of fun I will end up getting from the dlc and if it'll get too repetitive.
now that the game has been out for a couple of hours, what do you guys think?

Just having the new characters alone is worth it, but the new survival mode is a lot of fun too.

i'm asking specifically about the longevity of the new survival mode. for me two new characters is not worth me buying a game I've already completed so I'd need to know I'm playing survival for a while to spend £20 on the dlc + game combo.

Survival Mode has a lot in it, and you level each character up individually as you play. When you collect a Crystal, you unlock extras for that particular character you're playing. Those unlocks might be a level up in Survival mode for that character, to give them more health as an example, or a new palette reskin to one of the other incarnations of them.

So for example; playing as Raph. You get a crystal, and it rewards you his Mirage skin to use. (Black & White from the 84 comics.)

Every individual character has stuff like this in Survival. I guess it depends if you think that's worth it or not.

Not worth it for me because I dont care about survival modes in beat em ups. None of the old classic beat em ups had them. Its just a way to get you to spend more on the game.

Buying it for the survival mode alone, definitely worth every dime :metalkingslime:

I'm not that much into un locking costumes and whatnot but i am into roguelite mechanics. you said that sometimes crystals can unlock levels for your characters, does that mean you can get further in survival or that you can do harder survival difficulties or is it more like once you've beaten survival you've pretty much seen all there is to it? can you beat survival in your first go or will you need to upgrade your chars (assuming a moderate level of skill). I've heard you can "go deeper" after beating survival. does that make it harder? is there a limit to the deeper you go? etc etc.

Yes. I've only played a short bit of the survival mode so far, but I believe the crystals that reward you a level-up at the end of a run are meant to help you get further. I imagine it's possible to beat the story portion of survival in your first go, but I sure as hell won't be the one to pull that off.

I believe the 'story' ending is after you beat the fifth stage of Survival, but it DOES continue on after that and continue to ramp up difficulty. It adds in new types of enemies, mixes what comes in that wave, and will sometimes pair up random bosses to fight you. (Example: Slash and Metalhead, at the same time.)

When I finished my first run, I unlocked a palette swap skin and I also unlocked a second special move bar so I could store up to 2x at once. The level ups are permanent rewards that carry between runs.

I don't know if there's a hard limit to survival.

Question is do you like shredders revenge alot? Do you enjoy its arcade like approach? Its a game thats meant to played alot but not to a point of seeing new things for many hours. The new survival mode is pretty fun and has alot of replay but its not a drastically new experience. I love it and find it worth it but I also love arcade experiences as well as a sucker for nostalgia of tmnt arcade. Like the overall game is quick, the dlc is just extra on top of the already delicious fun cake. If you consider the game done after beating it once, then its not worth it for you.

I dont typically like survival modes in just about anything BUT fighting games but this mode was made alot differently. Its alot more rewarding and alot of fun, especially with others. I would definitely not consider it some kind of cash grab at all.

I'm a massive retro gamer and i did like Shredder's revenge but didn't see any good reason to keep playing it after beating it. If it had some cool mechanics that kept each playthrough new and fresh like modifiers and increased difficulty with roguelite upgrades then I'd probably feel a lot more compelled to play it though. i know the dlc does that but i have no idea how much of it is in there.

It seems pretty in depth but so maybe cash grab is the wrong word. Its just not necessary for everyone who owns the game. Theres lots of new games that just came out that people are playing so to get me to drop them and play a OLD game right now its just not enough incentive.
