i don't think you can play online with an older version of the game.
Honestly, if you have to spam supers to get through the game, then you're probably an incompetent gamer with no skill.
Some might say that I'm a no-talent noob, and they'd be right. But hey, I am what I am. And this is gaming. It's not like I'm cheating on my taxes. If I wanted something difficult, I'd learn a more impressive/expressive skill... like playing the guitar. Actually, now might be a good time to learn how to play the guitar.
As the OP said: "You can have all [the] skill you want. I just want to have fun."
(This is still a really awesome game, by the way. I'm just nit picking. Props to the devs for their continued support.)
First reason is straightforward and obvious - it was admittedly kind of overpowered in story mode. Just having free reign of doing supers and Radical mode as much as you pleased made a lot of the boss fights trivial. Should allow for more variety to beat up the goons as a side product, instead of just super spamming the waves, taunting up to full meter, then moving onto the next.
Second reason is actually the multiplayer side of things. While I didn't play too much online, I could see someone holding the group up while they taunted themselves back up to three bars after every fight. By doing this change, it does end up cutting a couple dozen minutes of a given online session from all that waiting, and while that sounds minor - it allows Story Mode to be enjoyed at a more brisk pace in multiplayer, and that pace can potentially better accommodate those who have less flexible time schedules.
Third and finally - most people looking for the die-hard challenge would likely play Arcade Mode over Story because then their lives and health management matter a lot more. Hey guess what - this change doesn't affect Arcade in the slightest because you only ever get one super meter bar. Better to brag about doing all story challenges on Hard instead of the lack of taunt spamming anyway (because screw those no-damage ones in particular)
@OP jup, you did - but the rest of us probably didn't steal the game either.
Fun is quite subjective, and hearing a Donatello go "Just a minute!" or Casey "Batter up, scuzzbucket" three times in a row every couple of steps ruined the fun for me quite a few times.
Playing the game to unwind, not wanting a challenge is OK, but unless you are completely new to beat em up games, the easiest difficulty should be a breeze for you after just the tiniest bit of practice.
Good luck and have fun!
I don't
Apparently I should have worded that clearer, I was talking specifically about multiplayer, and your co-players doing it.
Clearing screen after screen with three specials may have been fun for the Casey-player, not so much for the 5 other guys sprinting against the right side of the screen while Casey goes:
"Batter up, scuzzbucket"
"Batter up, scuzzbucket"
"Batter up, scuzzbucket"
after every group.
