Turtles' speed.
Isn't Raphael supposed to be the most fleet of foot? He has the shortest weapon, he needs to be the fastest. Then it's Mikey, Then Leo, and because Donatello can hit an enemy from across town, he's the slowest.

That's the first thing I noticed too. In Turtles in Time, it was Raph, Leo, Mikey, then Donnie for walk speed. For Dashing, it was Raph, Leo and Donnie tied, then Mikey. I know Tribute Games gets the creative liberty to do whatever they want, but because this is a throwback to the original games, this aspect is pretty jarring. I know it's not the end of the world either, but it just doesn't feel right, at least not yet.

In the 2003 cartoon the other turtles would make fun of Raph for being slow.

Even then Don is still shown to be the slowest (makes sense from a gameplay perspective). As this is supposed to be a spiritual successor to the old games, I was hoping they would maintain the core aspects of the turtles' identities, but again I understand as this is Tribute's vision and interpretation of how they want them to be portrayed. Maybe there is still hope for someone like me in that the other key traits carry over (Mikey most powerful weapon, Donnie longest reach, Leo most balanced, Raph lowest defense but most aggressive, etc...)

By original cartoon logic, they should be the same. Same size, build, everything. What this probably shows is their approach style differences. By game logic, not sure if there is a sprint mechanic, or just for playstyle variation. A live demo trailer should clear all this up.

Raph should be the fastest then Leo, mike and last don. It was like this in the og games.

I always thought it was Donnie who was slowest, and then Leo. Speed being inverse to weapon range. I've played 'Turtles in Time' many times. I wonder if I'm wrong.

Yeah, definitely a game mechanic. In the first 'Turtles' game, a menace to anyone's patience, & utterly out of my capabilities as a gamer, all the turtles moved, jumped, and struck in the same way. But with Donnie, one was capable of striking well down below platforms. Raph' was left to deal with those threats head-on, probably hazarding yet more threats on the way.
I can't say much for the 2nd and 3rd turtles titles, but with part IV, it become clear, they each had their own 'style' or mechanic differentiating them & leveling them all off. I can say the first time I was able to get past Slash in part IV, on the hardest difficulty, I had to use Raph.' Slash was so damn fast I had to counter with just that.
As for the sprint mechanic idea. I came to that conclusion too after awhile. The fact that Mikey seems to be hauling balls, and the others are not? There is also what seems to be 2 bars at the top for each character. One for health, one for stamina, sprint?
Time will tell.

I don't have a problem with Michelangelo being faster than Raph. Raph has usually been portrayed as the physically strongest turtle. So giving him good strength with moderate speed, making Leo the all-rounder, Mikey the fastest, and Don the slowest but rangiest is fine IMO. I know Raph was the fastest in the old games, but I think he was just balanced that way for game logic because Capcom wanted to give the shortest range turtle the best speed, not to adhere to any sort of story canon.
Yeah, I'm most familiar with the mechanics, canon, of TMNT IV & perhaps the 90's cartoon canon. Because the game looks so similar & because I've played and adore 'Turtles in Time' so much, it'll be hard for me to separate this new title from that.
The canon from the comics is different from the 90's cartoon, and that's different than the mechanics in the games, and each game seems to have it's own 'canonicity.'
I'm usually a stickler for such things when I'm in the know, but since I'm unsure how each character rates against the others in each of the versions of TMNT, I'll stick with comparing it to the game it resembles.
I guess I want balance, but maybe I really want a 'TMNT IV' part 2. :)

in the 1990 arcade beat em up donnie was kinda broke. All people would do it that double button attack because of the range and knockdown and it had no downsides.
