How to fish the big ones?

Hi! I have been trying to find a way to catch the big fishes, those who jump after some seconds trying to reel them into the boat that break the line always at the second jump. I'm guessing there's a QTE that activates there, but I don't get it as it happened with the whale boss, but restarting the game doesn't change anything. It's a related bug? I'm doing something wrong and there's actually a way to act when they jump (like reeling some way, not doing anything... I tried that, but maybe I'm just dumb)?

Some of them seem to have a QTE, but many of them I just pull to the boat and catch them. It feels like the jumping thing is often a) because big fish sometimes do that and b) it helps determine what fish it even is.

I am having the same issue.. Have you figured it out?

Oh, yeah: You can push L1 (or the equivalent button in the pad) to do a heavy push that gets the fish really close in one go. With that, most fishes are taken in a moment. ;)
