Am I misunderstanding how strong chaos spawns and Astartes neophytes are? Cuz I am aware that a fully armored space marine can be killed by a hive ganger if he had a plasma gun and enough luck
There's also a huge difference between "lore" and "tabletop" as for example Space Marines are basically demi-gods in lore able to demolish armies by themselves but are toned down considerably in tabletop for gameplay reasons able to be beaten by a group of angry conscripts with pointy sticks.
Generally though Chaos Spawn are often used and encountered in a situation where they are going to face mass fire or heavy weapons that can bring them down rather fast. I'd say a squad of Inquisitorial Acolytes wearing Carapace with hellgun/hotshots, plasma, melta or even bolters should be able to dispatch one without a sweat.
