slab shield special action ?

i can't do it :o
tried my special binding, tried it when already blocking, it just won't work, am I missing something or is it a bug ?
btw what does it do specifically ? block cost reduction ? is it like VT2 where you'll fully block any attack that isn't a grab ?

The special makes your Ogryn stationary while blocking most attacks from the front without consuming stamina.

When you use the Shield's special you don't need to hold block. I can't say why it's not working for you. Are you unable to activate any weapon specials?

yeah i use weapon specials on a regular basis never had any issue, the shield one just won't work, so I was wondering if there was some trick i wasn't aware of to activate it.. weird :x
edit : just tried with a bully club it works, very weird.

Defensive Stance (Shield's special) is a niche ability, unfortunately. It can easily be countered by Flamers, Bombers, Hounds, Mutants, Trappers, and anything that requires you to move, really. Plague Ogryns will quickly ignore you if you don't deal dmg to them, Beasts of Nurgle will vomit and eat you, Chaos Spawns will grab you.

-Defensive Stance tank Sniper shots. As soon as you press the special button the Sniper shot will be blocked even though the Shield hasn't been fully deployed.
-It can also tank Taunted melee enemies really well on the Mostly Melee condition. Taunt and use Defensive Stance while standing with your back to a corner (and pray an enemy that requires you to move doesn't target you).
-You can soak some Shooter/Gunner fire and even have some Shooters come running into melee, but there are some caveats to remember here: 1) Not every Shooter is going to attack you (even though it might sound like it from the 100 shots hitting your shield), and teammates will hide as soon as just one Shooter targets them. 2) When you're exposing yourself with Defensive Stance, enemies aren't pushing towards you, which means you're keeping them at range in cover. 3) It's usually better to just push forward while holding Block up to taunt any Shooters attacking you, then start your heavy attack spam as soon as a Shooter is within melee range.

tyvm for the detailed reply :) yeah it's pretty much a shield weapon from VT2 except that special ability lets you block at no cost in exchange for being immobile, still, handy for plague ogryn with the taunt ability or if someone aggroes a daemonhost ( yeah doesn't happen often, but there are still random people constantly rushing ahead in T5 missions with no awareness whatsoever and sound bugs causing the daemonhost to not make a sound lmfao, happened 2 days ago )
but anyways, i'll have to figure out how to fix this bug i'm having 'cause i just can't use it atm, pressing the alt attack input does nothing

I almost feel dumb asking, but you are holding the special right? this one isn't a activate/toggle it's hold to use

You need to hold it to plant the shield. It is very situational though, I'd say the only time I use it is if I manage to gain the attention of 4+ gunners or I'm trapped in a corner with a plague ogryn. Snipers seem to do very little to your stamina so you can block their shots normally if nothing else is attacking you.

Make sure you don't have special key and inspect weapon as the same keybind.

LMFAO. that must be it, i've bound the special to scroll down, might be weird but that's how i've always done it in tide games :x trying right now, i'll update !

Just remember not to Turtle up too often.. Best form of Defense Is unrelenting offense in DT. And the shield as very, very good at spreading lots of bleeds and damage to a crowd very quickly while keeping them on their asses. And another note, Some bosses have command grabs. So just keep that in mind when dealing with the Spawn of Beast of Nurgle.

Other people have said the same before, try changing the keybind.

Basically the likely reason is that you have a tap / rapid fire macro on that binding (or the key itself is broken and doesn't hold down), whether you realize it or not. The shield is different from others in that you need to HOLD the special, rather than tap it. Which is why it's the only one that can run into that problem. :>

If it is a macro and you know how to change it, you can ofc just get rid of it and use the same keybind. But in the past apparently a lot of people are using macros without even knowing how or what to do about them so that's why I worded it out this way. xD
