Short answer: No, there are no red weapons or news of them yet.
Long answer: Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
A few months ago they released an update that they're working on an itemization update that's designed to increase our agency and tackle (at least some of) the RNG issue. We don't know what that means and when that update is coming out however. It was kinda implied it would be soon-ish, but whether that's now or after the summer is anyone's guess.
What we do know is that around next week we should get the next content update which comes with several completely new weapons - not just marks / variants mind you -, and a new map that apparently has a bit of a winter theme with some snow in it.
This. ;)
Optimal item OCD is a personal problem. The reality is that you can carry any Auric mission with a fairly mediocre 500+ weapon, which is easy as heck to get.
If health and damage stay the same
AND red weapons means stat lines go up to 100 AND maximum roll (like in VT2, which i rather doubt since lots of things that were superior in VT2 didnt make it into DT)
Wouldnt that mean Red weapons were the redundant catergory?
We already have plenty of weapons that reach the 1 tap or 2 tap break point across multiple armor types in the game W/O factoring in the talent tree. Add in the talent tree (specifically thinking of veteran focus target + executioner stance 1 tapping with revolver or plasma, two tapping crusher or 1 mag dump on monster) and we already do overkill damage for the enemies in the game to handle.
Red weapons would just make our already super powerful kits ultra powerful ala a bit redundant.
I dont agree with much that you say, but this is a fact. Still a revolver with 100 in all stat lines +25% unyielding +25% Carapace T4 Surgical T4 Crucian Roulette paired with a 100 in all stat lines Knife Mk6 with +5% crit chance +25% Maniac T4 Riposte T4 Fleshtearer would worth chasing after. Add in agile engagement + VoC on ult damage buffs and a knife might be able to 1 tap a crusher with a head smack.
Yes, the grind for (all) reds in VT2 takes ~100-200 hours which is a fraction of the time it takes to find a single good 380 that doesn't get bricked in DT.
I honestly think that the red weapons should be actual relics, or just rare/exotic weapons which replace the basic weapon in its category and role, rather than merely upgraded basic weapons.
Examples:
- A Volkite Pistol.
- A Volkite Rifle.
- An Evicerator-Flamer combi weapon.
- A Singing Spear (fat chance, but one can dream).
- Las Cannon (for the Ogryn).
- Needle Pistol.
- Chain Glaive.
- Force Staves which allows the use of much more exotic Psyker abilities, such as borderline heretical powers or sacred powers usually associated with Living Saints.
- A Gravity Gun.
- A Bolter-Plasma Combi weapon.
- A Bolter-Flamer Combi weapon.
- A Bolter with a chain bayonet.
i got a 380 knife yesterday it rolled with +20 Carapace +10 Groaners T4 Haymaker T3 Mercy Killer. So very sad. I replaced mercy with Riposte and groaners with crit chance. its working pretty well but it doesnt 1 tap 4k hp muties to the face like both of my mk6 knives do.
So you either get lucky and get a red weapon to guarantee a good statted weapon, or you gamble for a perfect orange
Unless they increase blessing tiers for some blessings (or accross the board), or increase the modifier rating, or add an additional tier to perks, the grind wont start anew, it just gets an end point that isnt +1000 hours
