Brauto is great. The Agripina variant can cleave multiple targets and deal with flak quite easilly. It is also accurate out to medium ranges and can be tap fired to kill distant snipers. It also does not require any point investment on the talent tree, or require specific blessing combinations to perform. It is an excellent all rounder and entry level weapon.
The Infantry las is simply inconvenient to use at this point. The spawn rates of enemies have increased drastically since the launch of the game, and it struggles to keep up with large roaming squads of elites and specialists. With a crit weakspot build it can delete specialists and unarmored elites quite effectively though, and boasts one of the best ammo economies in the game.
My contender for the REAL worst vet weapon has to be the shredder autopistol.
Up to Auric maelstrom: everything is good and playable except autopistol, vigilant autoguns, hellbores and combat shotguns.
But you can make them work if you really try, mind you. Except autopistol. ♥♥♥♥ autopistol. It is so bad now makes you wonder why it still exists.
In Havoc: everything is bad except revolver, bolt pistol, bolt gun, recon las and plasma.
Recon Lasgun - Versatility and Ammo Economy
Plasma - Sheer power
Both weapons have a low skill floor too.
Worst?
In my opinion probably the hipfire revolver. Fun and stylish to use but... underwhelming in comparison.
And the shredder autopistol - hope the soon to come buff changes things for the better here
Worst Hellbore.
viable and actually fun to use: Agri Mk 8 Braced Autogun, Heavy Laspistols, Agri Mk 1 IAG, Stub Revolvers, Recon Lasguns.
niche but viable with proper build: All of the shotguns, Helbore Lasguns, Infantry Autoguns (excluding Agri Mk 1), Infantry Lasguns, Boltgun.
huge value: boltpistol with lethal proximity.
horrible: shredder autopistol. vigilant autoguns.
perks indicate it's meant to be used to flank(backstab) hordes presumably attacking allies.
edit: or burn an infiltrate to get the most out of it.
i found it worked well with the tac axe or i guess the knife because of handling and speed lets you dominate close combat until something with armour arrives . .
I agree with this post though, once you get into Havoc.
Worst: Infantry Lasgun, Helbore Lasgun, SMG, Headhunter Autogun, Pump Shotguns, etc.
I’ve seen people make some of the more middling choices like the Helbore and the Double Barrel work, but that takes some skill.
I know it isn't meta, but my high end team of friends can feel the difference when we don't have a bolter vet and when we do.
Outside of the ammo economy issues, that *can* be mitigated, it does tend to be a playstyle that requires your vet to have high awareness and knowledge of the game. However, if your vet is good, the bolter outshines almost any weapon.
