Infantry lasguns just meh. After rebalancing they lost hteir breakpoints and become just bad
You need MF or FT to push it's break point threshold range into meaningful ranges for the IIb, and the VII usually does well with Exec stance. While it's not going to pump out the same DPS as recon or the vraks5, it's big selling point is ammo efficiency, especially the IIb.
Unfortunately vigilant autoguns don't have the same perks as the iLas and overall do worse compared to it. They just don't do enough meaningful damage against the threats that matter and they don't benefit from talents like shocktrooper for Vet. They're pretty bad.
In general, iLas could use some minor buffs to increase its damage against flak, then it would be perfect. The vigilant needs a series of buffs, however.
The high powered version is lethal, accurate and very effective
I've rarely used a vigilant but the infantry and braced guns are very good imo
Its not unusable but you have to work for it and even then why bother when there's that sweet sweet Recon lasgun that does it faster smoother and in style.
infinite ammo - good damage (if you are consistent at shooting heads)
hard counters shooters / gunners

The vigilant autogun with surgical blessing I do like alot on a gun psyker. Very underrated there.
The kantreal was great for precision long shots, picking out elites and specials and gunners heads poking over cover and kills consistently at mid to long range high accuracy.
Even so three to 4 body shots will kill a rager and I've found no issues with it dealing with other elites and even carapace enemies with a few well placed shots
