Mortis too random
Anyone else feel like the Mortis Trials are just too random, you can have entire damnation games where you fight like 20 elites and no bosses, or you can have a game where is spawns like 50 flak ragers with the karnak twins and 1 of every monstrosity at the same time.

Does it respond to how strong your builds are, or is it just completely random?

Some of the games just end up being tedious when there's literally just nothing to kill, give us an option to play with with the crazy factor turned up to 11 atleast.

I didnt lost a Mortis trial mission so far, just died 2 times because I karked around with the barrels. So no. It's completely random which enemies will occur.
It's random. Sometimes you get a ton of a single elite type, some time you get a mixture of two, sometimes they spawn 3 bosses that get erased from existence sometimes someone decides to shoot the poxburster and knock the entire team off the map.

I swear I've spend more time trying to hunt down that one rifleman hiding someone on the other side of the corner than actually fighting.
so this is why i get more matches from queuing uprising (obviously other than people spedruning the event). because even in that difficulty, it's still just as random. feels like the only difference being the final rewards.

I could be wrong but I think it has like five factors that it seem to randomize, including hordes (and their size), Dregs or Scabs, what type of specialists, whether or not renegade Moebians are present and boss frequency but I have honestly no idea.

Was playing with one of my mates yesterday and we went from drowing in poxwalkers and infected in one game only for the second game to have smaller groups of mutated poxwalkers rush us while renegade Moebian squads were hitting us from range on the sides.

Some waves also seem to have no boss or specialist variaty, just like ten Scab Snipers or twenty Dreg Ragers all coming at you in a conga-line.

I like it BECAUSE it's random like that.

Would be extremely boring if every wave was the same every time you played.

+1
I'm fine with randomisation, but having the actual difficulty randomise is just boring.

When I pick Damnation, I expect a Damnation fight, not a 50% chance of low-intensity Heresy

Whole damn game is random, more or less. I guess that's kinda the point even. My question with Mortis more along the lines of "Why is this a thing and what is it for exactly?"
Training for something hard or sharpening your skill? Hardly. I imagine my reaction if i play this game first time and it's like lvl 15 or something and i see 4-6 ragers rushing me. I'd be so dead i'd probably die offscreen too.
And those indulgences, or whatever they called it, not giving you real sense of the game.
For all other things it does nothing that auric and havoc don't.
I just don't get it.

Its basically a mashup of Chaos Wastes, Weaves and Fortunes of war game modes from Vermintide 2.

The indulgences are just the boons from chaos wastes, you have random modifiers and events like in weaves and you fight waves in an arena like fortunes of war.

The game mode itself is fine, it's meant to be considered a separate thing for the normal game mode. But the thing its lacking is difficulty.

All 3 of those V2 game modes I mentioned are considered the hardest things in the game, and some of the most fun because of it.

Mortis trials right now feels like a mastery and plasteel farm.

Some of the indulgences are way too OP for the average intensity of stuff the game is throwing at you.

They need to add in either enemy type modifiers like grudge marks from Chaos wastes, along with environmental threats on waves. Or they just need to up the intensity of the density or type mix of foes.

Right now even with the highest intensity stuff I've seen it throw at us, there's very little threat because the indulgence builds are so cracked.

And it can randomly just give you a less than vanilla damnation mission amount of stuff to deal with, which is perplexing.
Yeah, I feel it's very random. Sometimes it's a breeze to go through all 12 waves. And sometimes we're fighting three bosses at once with a constant flow of Mutants, Trappers, Crushers and Elite Gunners on wave 8.

i feel like they are not random, very primitive and very low perks - every game is barely the same on the single archetype.

Ok, it's a Vermintide 2 thing in not a Vermintide game. That makes it make even less sense than it did before. Seriously, what were they thinking? "Ahh just copy some things and mash 'em together, it'll be fine" Just waste of time and resourses if you ask me.
But then again, who is asking me, right? Heh.
However im with you there on a difficulty complaint, even at it's worst it's mildly annoying.

Yeah I've noticed some mortis games are way more boring than others. I assumed it was just cause team composition being different, plus the choices of buffs.

It's because those game modes are some of the most fun parts of V2. Having a variety of game modes is never a problem for a game like this. It just needs to sort it's balancing out and figure out if it wants to be casual or end game sweaty content.

Because right now it's neither.

My favorite is when you get bulwaks on an investigation wave and they just keep coming out of the walls.

A dreg ragers rush on a purify wave is good times also. Unlimited dreg ragers really let's you get in some devil claw practice.

But it's all random and randos for how tough the waves are. A three shout veteran tossing heal grenades every 20 seconds trivializes everything XD
