Does anyone here play Darktide on Linux?
Since Darktide is the only game I play due to lack of time, I switched from Windows 11 to Linux. My daily driver is a Mac, so my PC (AMD 5800X/NVidia 4060TI) is dedicated solely to gaming. Therefore, I no longer see any reason to use Windows 11. I installed Arch Linux (Steam and Vivaldi are the only applications) and Darktide runs perfectly (1080p 150-200 FPS). Is anyone else using Linux for Darktide? Are there any downsides I haven't considered?

I’ll let you know soon. I switched to Linux myself (Fedora 41). So far every game I play works perfectly. If you want to check if a games works in Linux, go to the protondb website.

Never played Darktide but have always been interested. Going to go for it since it is on sale right now.
The only downside I can think of is that modding is a bit trickier. You can't just run "toggle_darktide_mods.bat".

It's easy to work around at least:
WINEPREFIX="$(pwd)/../../compatdata/1361210/pfx/" wine toggle_darktide_mods.bat

Good point, thanks, but I don't use mods in games.
I run on mint, no issues.

Literally the same thing, mate. Just
handle_darktide_mods.sh --enable
instead.

OT: It's just plain ol' Darktide, except the severe tech issues are slightly more severe on Linux. Ogryn box o' nades absolutely TANK frametimes. Mesh streaming seems to be more broken on Linux, but I've read reports about it being just as severe on Windows, so who knows? Just disable that.

What does that to do that the windows version doesn't? It already works fine as far as I can tell

The end result is the same. It's just weird to say that modding is a bit trickier, when you're purposefully making it trickier. Like hammering in a nail with a tape measure.

On a side note, I also think that mucking around in a game's proton prefix with a generic wine installation is ill-advised, but considering Darktide has Steam cloud support, that wouldn't matter much here anyway.

Good to know.
There weren't any linux-specific versions of the mod loader when I switched to linux, and I hadn't heard of that github repo until today.

Kubuntu here. Switched from bootleg Win10 after SM2 release. So far, Linux proves a superior system for both new and old games. Stalker 2 - While Win users experience 50 shades of crash, I just had to troubleshoot some quests. Company of Heroes (RTS, 2007) playing a mod I had one crash that might've been related to Discord. While other people experience yet again 50 shades of CTD, I am playing the game just fine. And of course DT - Works just fine. Requires some tinkering with certain games, but still, I've never been more pleased with my OS.

Edit: To patch the exe for modding, add dkit-patch.exe to your steam library, set compatibility to proton experimental and add "--toggle ../bundle" to the launch options. Works for me. Iirc dkit-patch.exe comes in with one of the base mods you get from nexus?
