Warhammer models
have you seen on Amazon (& eBay) you can get Darktide toys made by McFarlane quite cheap, and furthermore there's the more expensive & nicer JoyToy Warhammer toys which includes guardsmen - just saying because they're pretty cool

GW shirked their longtime playerbase with a lot of corporate behavior in the past years, so tabletop players have started to buy 3d printers and create their own market. I don't give GW any money for asides the cut they get from digital games. I buy from players who make their own figures, and other stuff can be found in hobby shops. GW is a corporate zombie I will not support.

i got a couple table top armies and almost none of it is bought from GW . there are ♥♥♥♥ tons of great 3d printer businesses and getting stl files for models is pretty easy and very cheap.
Maleceptor for $24AUD instead $110~ and its better in quality aswell.

Fair Warning! Once you start collecting models, you will keep getting more. So if you want to stop yourself from filling up your bookshelf with them then you gotta not even start collecting them.

EDIT: But I gotta say, using them as chess pieces for a chess match with your friends might actually be fun.

Honestly, it's not enough to really make a difference to GW and "a lot" might be overstating it. 3D printing is one of those things that everybody wants to do until they start reading the laundry list of safety, acquisition and set up that needs to be done to do it. Then you have to consider whether your opponent is okay with it and whether or not you plan to actually enter any tournaments in the future.

For example:

Not saying this applies to you. For all I know, you just play with a friend and that is all that matters. But most people will begrudgingly give in and get official models.

Great idea!

Edit: A friend and I had tried this with some old military Micro Machines and added a few extra rules for each piece.

nah perfectly legal and better quality and durability than gw most of the time. enjoy overpriced ♥♥♥♥, 4 capitalism yey.
when that scene started up. it wasn't as a reaction to anything games workshop was doing, it was a reaction to 3d printers being affordable, so it's interesting to hear people acting like it's about social or political reasons. besides, they make their money on the citadel paints.

Fairly sure IP licenses account for a non-insignificant amount too.
