You are also looking at a dead time, we had 8k to 10k for the last weeks because of the patch.
Something has actually gone right, as the charts show.

We used to have less than 5k daily peaks this year in the lowest point, now these daily peaks are around 10k.
The reason why it's not 10k 24/7 is because we live on a rotating planet with time zones. With every single game, one time zone group always has the largest number of players and the daily peak player count comes from this.

Judging by the peak time, the peak is in the evening in Europe.
HD2 reaches the peak when it's already night in Europe.
Also it's only down 2000 from the average they had for two years.
But that do not mean the game is dead, its not hard to find a game and someone to play with.
