I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate the "true survivor" penance
Why is there another penance that requires not just myself to play well at (arguably) the hardest level and not go down, but also ALL of my teammates to not go down? like? why? why the hell is a reward I want to try earning for myself dependant on other people?

Because this is a team game.

Took me and a random group 2 runs to finish this on havoc 40. It's a team effort, but I understand that it can be frustrating at times. I'd recommend just taking your time. Eventually you'll get it if you are a decent player with a decent team.

Because you have to challenge yourself from time to time.
Also, not every reward can be obtained by anyone. Sometimes it is what it is.

Terminal protagnonist syndrome is also a form of brain rot.

Touch grass.

Just because you've accepted your NPC status, doesn't mean everyone else has to.

As frustrating as it may be, this is a 4 player co-op game. Trusting in the competency of randoms is a quick way to become frustrated when going for penances like True Survivor, you need a proper team.
You could ask the people in the Mourningstar to see if they're penance running it. That way you guys can chew through each other's keys for more chance.

After not having done it yet (late to the party on Havok so still levelling through it), is it actually harder than Auric Storm Survivor in practice? Genuine question.

Seems to me that owing to the increased difficulty, if you get downed it's likely going to cause a run failure anyway. You basically can't make mistakes on the higher diffs, right? So if you're knocking out a 35+ run, do you not almost get it by default?

Plus it's a one and done, rather than Survivors' 5 streak which had a lot more rng variables (namely team mates, although avoided with a pre-made I guess).

fun fact , right now true survivor requirement is bugged...
If poeple die instantly and not getting downed ( full corruption ) you will still unlock the penance.

Too bad you cant simply ignore it and live on. You can say same with private only penances. Why should I bother anyone if I have no friends to play with? Just move on, gee.

FS has had the same issue with just about every Penance with dead/downed requirements since they're probably coded to check for player states in a set order which means that dying without getting downed skips the player state as far as the checklist is concerned.

Pure gold right here!

Also True Survivor is meant to be one of the hardest challenges in a team oriented game favouring pre made groups. It is frustrating and even disheartening at times; it's perfectly doable on random groups though.

I did it with a random group and it just took a couple of times (we did it on map 38). It requires proper builds and coordination. Also some skill by all four. I think it's the only challenge that noone can be carried to acquire.

And it's fine...

You can find people outside the game, on discord etc. Inside the game you can also find people, the team is not quickplay, you can be selective. You can also communicate you want to go for the title.

It's a team game at it's core. There is no solo mode. You're just being childish, nothing really constructive.

It is really annoying to do with randoms for sure. That I do get, hence being selective and communicating. Otherwise you're just being shallow imo.

It's really not that bad. I got it with some randoms from Discord on Havoc 36 and then we did it again 38. Also did a pure random through the game's group finder and have done it a few times that way as well. Just be more selective of who you pick for your group.
