Another great article about a more modern way to do this:

Then you wouldn't have to rely and making it seem different through annoying fog or dark so much. It's really not that fun and I don't like that only a very few guns get a flashlight. Just give everyone a headlamp they can turn on/off and make it another item where you have to find better headlamps and some work better in fog, or have wider beam, or are brighter. Or make some/all of them have limited battery and varying charge times. Then at least everyone would have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ lamp even if some classes are supposed to see better. I do like some atmospheric variation it's just a bit extreme sometimes and we don't even have a flashlight. I even play as Veteran mostly but I just really prefer the Agripina Braced Autogun and it has no light.
I do enjoy that I can do about 80-90% shooting with the right talents, weapon and careful use of ammo. Melee is implemented fairly well but I just get bored by it. My only real complaint with this game is many times it does not respond when I try to switch weapons. I think it doesn't like to do it during a reload, but most games interrupt any reload and just switch anyway, even if you have to redo the reload later. Ideally you'd have staged reloads so depending on the gun you don't have to redo the entire thing.
A break from winter break.

They did that twice now, to cover the fact the game was essentially in early access in all but name for 2 years.
Even the same 8-10 white knights that stalk these forums will start to see the mirage waver if they do it a 3rd time.
Yep, it wasnt a very hard prediction though. This seems to be the plan they made up along the way.
1- Basically launch game as a shell, but with a fully working and overly expensive cash shop.
2- Spend first 2 years of launch fixing the shell into the baseline for a AAA game after taking everyone's launch money and pretending it was a finished game, while still milking as much money out of the 40K fans with reskins and the occasional "pRemIUm" cosmetic set.
3- After end of the early access period in all but name, release the game we all paid to beta test on the PS5 for a soft relaunch to try and claw back some player numbers.
4- Start actually developing meaningful new content, over 2 years too late, after a lot of players were disillusioned and moved on, with only the people who carried you through to keep carrying you pretty much forever. Eg. the same hardcore no lifers that stalk these discussion boards and white knight any criticism with zero admittance of its many failures (Exactly like Vermintide 1/2).
5- Absolutely make sure to celebrate each step of the aforementioned journey like you are doing the players massive favours fixing your own game after lying about several things that would be in the game that weren't. Ensuring to put out cherry picked "dev blogs", probably made up on the spot, that no one cares about to try and pass across the illusion you know what you are doing.
Bonus Point- Make many of the same mistakes you made with your last game that had huge unfulfilled potential for its entire life span of 7 years, while seemingly regressing all the lessons learnt from that game. Even though its the exact same type of game.
Did i miss anything? Just ask FS for the cigarette packet they used to write it all down on.
Now though, hilariously, people will actually be grateful when they develop new content next year, that we should have been getting for the past 2 years.
New content that would have prevented a lot of burn out on the few and repetitive map types we have thrashed for a long time already, with mostly the same weapons and entirely the same classes.
Please, for the love of god GW, take the license off them and give it to a competent developer that has had at least one successful live service game.
Meanwhile, Arrowhead games, with their first real attempt, are laughing all the way to the bank as their 4 player co-op shooter with a fraction of the IP Darktide has, consistently pulls more players than Vermintide 1, Vermintide 2 and Darktide........COMBINED.........
The irony is both Darktide and Helldivers 2 uses the same engine! Cannot make it up.
I completely agree with your points, however no, I don't think people would be grateful for "new content", since it's not really new content, it's whatever pieces they frogot to actually put in the game, to make it actually a game, not a barely working shell of a game we have now.
It's hideous it really is. And I'm thoroughly appalled at this grotesque treatment
GW doesn't care as long as they get paid and as far as 40k games go DT is still good despite the strange development procedures of FS.
Write a complain to Tencent - maybe they switch out the Development Team as they own Fatshark.
