Which Heavy Stubber is the best?
They seem mostly redundant in the balance of fire rate and damage.
In terms of just general ranged perk Ogryn versus everything on the map, which one gives the best DPS?

And refer to them by "fast, balanced, slow" etc not the faux-Latin followed by 30 numbers gobbledygook.

I like the Gorg. Feels consistent with higher dmg. Makes hitting repeated shots easier

Grog, Kourk, and Acyls - in that order, imo.

Gorgon might be the best overall gun for ogryn right now. I easily prefer it for counter-shooting and it feels the most accurate of the 3 stubbers past 25-30m (its not even close honestly).

That being said I'm still rolling my rumbler 9/10 matches, cause its borderline broken right now.

Gorgonum is the most universally useful.
For dedicated shooter builds only, Krourk or Achlys can be better than Gorgonum - which one you'd pick depends on how high you can push your ranged damage.

I loved the Gorgonum...but honestly after having some sticky situations...the Achlys works because you can pull it out and brace it basically immediately and that's always nice.

Gorgonum is the best singular damage bullet but slow shooting.
Krourk is the most ammo efficient with decent damage.
And Achyls is the best DPS wise (except against flak armor it ties it with Krourk and carapace where it does nearly nothing). Really good boss damage (if you can hit), rips maniac (mutants, unarmored ragers, trappers) apart, unyielding dies super fast and anything unarmored.

Their DPS is roughly similar.

Gorgonum (slow and blue)
  • Slow rate of fire
  • High damage per bullet
  • Accurate, even during sustained fire
  • Accurate unbraced
  • More likely to pierce
  • Slow handling

The go-to Stubber if you prefer to hang back and deal with every problem from range. It's by faaar the most popular. Great accuracy, and great in tight hallways due to pierce.

Achlys (fast and red)
  • High rate of fire
  • Low damage per bullet
  • Inaccurate, particularly during sustained fire
  • Quick handling and brace

The Achlys is favored by players who engage in close combat (i.e. melee) and need a quick-draw "SMG" to burst down priority targets that come to close. Don't attempt to play the Achlys like the Gorgonum. It's too inaccurate for that. Great with Roaring Advance (blessing) since you can continuously move towards the targets you're shooting, negating the increase in spread.

Krourk (medium and green)
  • Medium rate of fire
  • Medium damage per bullet
  • Most total damage per magazine
  • Medium accuracy, gets worse during sustaiend fire
  • Slow handling

The Krourk is best when you lean into it's strength of shooting for long periods of time before needing to reload. Select Charmed Reload (blessing) and a mission condition that spawns waves of Mutants. Or simply look for tight hallways where enemies keep coming.

I love the slower heavy slap of the gorgonum best.

Gorgonum does most damage per shot. Being slower also hits less on your accuracy.
Krourk is mid-tier between Acklys and Gorgonum.
Acklys is all about the volume of shots. Probably the worst of the Heavy Stubbers.

Most situations I consider the rumbler in another league right now. Using it also allows getting -almost- all the goodies on the ranged tree while skipping PBB, AND getting everything that is excellent on the heavy side.

Plus it lets me ignore the biggest problem with the ogryn tree, Bombs Away screwing grenade choice.

I don't know why there is so much Achlys hate here, but I still think it's the best due to it's versatility and potential to absolutely melt bosses. You need to be closer to enemies to use it effectively, but up close i prefer achlys.

Gorgonum, the end.
