fun vet builds
I am looking for vet builds to try out that make vet feel fun to play, at least for you.

vet was my main and had plenty of good times with them, but I've been struggling to have fun with vet lately compared to the others. I don't wanna drop vet, so any and all builds you enjoy using as them, please share them.

thank you in advance.

edit: thank you everyone who has commented. replying to all of them is going to create clutter, but know that I appreciate everything. hopefully other players who are also looking for vet builds to experiment with will get some use out of your comments.

Builds? You mean Gun!
Bolt Gun - aim down site style fighting
Auto Recon Laser Rifle - lasers and lots of them! why not!?

The biggest pain for marksman style primary ....ammo ....and melee being not so great.

Having some melee balance with talents may be good for a general all purpose build to survive

I don't melee much on Vet. I never have. its very weak to me. It doesn't mean it not possible. Just need the stamina build to do it.

Try the bolt gun and line up your mobs in a choke point...watch one bolt take out a huge amount of horde with one hit. The stagger is nice to. Boss mobs and Bulwarks bane is that Bolt Gun

I mean, what exactly do you want, more shooty? Melee? If your going to use a lasguns, get the no ammo use on crit, then do all of the middle keystones. Turn your recon lasgun into a minigun basically and blast everything to death, or perhaps grab the lucius and 2-1 tap armored ogryns. If your going for melee, go down the middle to get voice of command, and go down the bottom right tree for melee, become the beloved commissar. Use kraks grenades and bolter to kill armored and have a devil claw to plow down hordes.
experimenting with a running and gunning type build Damnation Auric, looking to be able to solo

shredder / catachan mark iv

what seem to be the key talents:
reload speed on elite kill
sprint cost reduction
recharge shield at range
voice of command
restore shield on elite kill
melee attack speed +15%

I'm not really picky atm, honestly. melee build, range build, all rounder, I've tried a lot of things with the vet and I've usually made it work.

at this point I'm looking for what particular weapon/perk combos people really enjoy using and how they choose to play with that build, like run and gun or etc. then I'll listen to whatever comments come in and try them all out, if possible.

I already tried the crit las recon build, felt fun for a while but I also felt like I was annoying my teammates with how many kills I kept getting with it. maybe that's some overthinking on my part, and if it is, I'll prob pick it back up. something tells me it's gonna get nerfed, though.

thank you.

I'll pick up the bolt gun, then. thank you friend.

Right now im just doing a melee build with my vet, since its a very different experience as your focus is on melee, and then using your ranged options to take down specials/bosses.
Basically Krak grenade
Grenade regen + fire team aura
voice of command + duty and honor
Then bottom right keystone is everything except agile engagement, skirmisher and ranged damage boost.
Middle Keystones superiority complex, Iron will, competitive urge.

Weapon combo obviously as i said above, Bolter/Devil claw. You can opt out of the bolter cause you got krak grenades though, revolver or plasma are both good options. Devil claw though you want something that boosts cleave like Wrath or Devasting Strike, The second blessing can be Rampage will make you carve through hordes like butter, and if any specials are in that horde they are in a world of hurt. Or get Shred to help you with specials specifically. Which if you do go for shred, drop the Competitive and Inspiring for exploit weakness, and get crit chance/crit damage on your weapons.

Try this: https://darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/9a606f12-e2cd-40c2-acd7-9e66dd3b1b67/build-name-2

This build give you: 1100-1600 dps to armored ogryns, something like 2000 to reapers and nice damage to all other staff from ranged weapon, also you will have ammo and grenade reg for team, and 1 krak grenade per minute for yourself, invisibility to get up downed or dead teammate, from melee weapon you will have some nice things too - just punch ogryn once with special attack and he will die in 4-5 seconds, or two punch and you will 1000 damage, for reapers - one into head and you will get 2600 dps, or into leg for 2000, you also will one-shot muties with light special attacks and 3800 dps, ragers and shotgunners will die in one attack and mauler after a few seconds, usual attakcs nice too, and you will not have problems in horde - but test it yourself cause i forgot why i was writing all this when i can just say this.

Don't sure about blessings for gun, got fire cause "oh that will damage bosses" but thats just 200 damage so i maybe should change, and other blessing help to run, shoot and dodge better when you have chaos spawn behind, or just to run into sniper.

*for unknown reasons my steam dont want to move me where i needed from here so you maybe need to copy-paste link out of here to get into(after that all work for me)

MG XII(or was it 3?) las rifle, build for executioners stance, bonus crit blessing along w infernus, build for crit, distance, and headshot damage. Full on sniper build. its what i use

If what you want is fun i'd recommend against the boltgun, You could try running something like krak+executioner stance and then use a heavy infantry autogun and a combat axe, That's the one "Fun build" I've managed with veteran so far.

everyone has their own definition of what fun is, including what sources the fun in the first place. I can try anything and everything, including the bolt gun and your suggestions. if I don't end up liking bolt gun long term, then so be it. doesn't mean it ain't fun for anybody, and I won't know until I try it out post update.

thank you for your suggestions.

This has become a favourite of mine: https://darktide.gameslantern.com/builds/9a6081c5-fdef-41ea-bdfb-e6e26f99d1c9/crit-revolver-2

I found this build from The Action Window on Youtube and with high level revolver (specifically on damage and critical bonus) it's insane. With Tier IV Surgical, 1.2 seconds of aim and it has a 70% chance of a crit and it's rarer to not get a crit than get a crit.

The Chainsword is optional, but I'd suggest something with good cleave for clearing hordes. Curios are also fairly open to what you want, but I suggest getting some extra stamina and stamina regen as you will use a lot of it for aiming. I'd say revive speed here is also more personal, but it has been a huge help combined with stealth to revive or rescue teammates from stealth quicker.

I personally also find the default revolver sights to not be that great and if you feel the same, I'd suggest grabbing either the red or blue skin from the Commissarium. You don't even need to have that great of aim either as the headshot hitbox is quite generous and if my terrible aim can make it work, so can anybody else.

You get some good melee buffs and an absolute hand cannon (might as well just consider it a bolt pistol) that can drop most specials and elites in 1-3 shots and it just feels good dropping them one after another.
dimi Oct 15, 2023 @ 11:18am
try the revolver and some reload speed reduction talents. that thing ♥♥♥♥♥.
Kao Oct 15, 2023 @ 11:54am
Voice of command, krak grenades, survivalist, grenade regen, grenade boost+amount, plasma gun and whatever horde cleaver you like.
You’re a buff pillar and you can vaporize everything in a pinch.
