TL;DR: Play whatever you like more. There is no "best" or "more fun" right now unless you were looking for meta OP broken stuff, which will be patched soon anyway.
Ogryn with the mk1 club and a rock that focuses on heavy attacks and the charge is also VERY satisfying. It is nigh unkillable, it can stand and trade against chaos-spawns, plague-ogryns and daemon-hosts and 1v1 them because its toughness regen on heavy attacks is so high, and its damage+bleed is so high that it kills them quickly. Flattening snipers and gunners with a brick is glorious. Bonking maulers and crushers with your club and killing them in 2 or 3 hits is also just amazing. Some people like the shield but I find the club feels much more fun to use, caving in skulls with your vertical heavy 1, and you are still pretty much unkillable, and with faster kills against the big targets I feel it is more helpful for the team.
Zealot with a heavy sword and the talent that makes you gain speed when shot instead of getting stunned is also very fun. You just zoom around chopping heads off. I like to go with the crit talents, stealth and reduce ult CD on crits/back-stabs, as that allows you to use your stealth as a panic button if you ever get in a bad spot (and if you are running around the place leading the squad it does happen), and you recharge it so fast that you will usually have it up when you need it again.
Personally I don't enjoy the psyker very much now. I used to love playing around with the force-sword and deflect though, but it feels very weak now, even with the non-warp focused build (scryers something or rather I think its called). Lots of people love playing as Palpatine and shocking everything with smite though.
Personally as a zealot main I find cleaving through hordes with my eviscerator to be extremely more exhilarating and fun than staying in the back and shooting stuff from afar as a veteran. But again, that's my subjective opinion, the amount of people playing vet tells another story.
Try different things you think you'd like, hell, even things you'd think you woulnd't like I'd say, and find out yourself.
1: Priest: Huge fun and just allows ape brain to take over and go full on murder hobo.
2: Slab: Take priest, Make him slow and hit harder, What's to hate?
3: Psyker: Enjoyable, Fun and each has a cool ass personaity, A handful of ways to play.
4: Vet: I just... don't enjoy playing them tbh, I got them to level 22 atm and hated it so far, I've just been suffering over all with the few builds I've been trying, Powerful sure but over all not my style.
Having played them all for hundreds of hours, I'd recommend Zealot or Psyker as your first, as both have some very unique builds you could try out and their share of unique weapons.
Ogryn is VERY fun however their playstyle is vastly different from the rest of the roster, and Veteran while very fun and probably my favourite is the most "basic" class and I'd say is best for funnily enough veterans of the game that have grasped all of the games mechanics and are deadly accurate with firearms.
If you don't mind Ogryn being essentially the "Bardin" of this game, I'd probably go for Oggy first, otherwise if you liked more melee oriented characters like Markus or Saltz, Zealot, and if you liked Sienna/SOTT Psyker (Psyker can do a gun/melee build quite effectively current patch though)
Vet can basically do the Markus Mercenary aoe fart, can enter a high damage stance which feels sort of like Victor Zealot if he was range oriented rather than melee and can do Markus Huntsmans stealth. Ogryn gets Markus Footmans big charge, a taunt that I've not really used and an ability that insta switches to your gun and ramps up your rate of fire + fire bullets. Zealot gets Victor Zealots dash, a sort of repeatable Markus Merc aoe fart that locks you up rather than being instant, and Keril Shades stealth. Psykers abilities are probably the most unique, you'd have to have a looksy yourself as barely anything other than the staves compares to Sienna.
Thank you so much for the informative awnser! like that you compared to vermintide >(
Zealot Chastise build hatchet/flamethrower build
I beat the ♥♥♥♥♥ out of bulwark, marauders, etc etc.....spend most the game in melee.
Flame is just to save my teams arse vs hordes on them.
grab stubber and just hold m1
Gunlugger ogryn with a shovel and a machinegun is pretty fun.
All of the classes can be "OP" if built properly.
Veteran was hands down the most OP class before the patch. Vet is now stronger than he was before (with certain builds). So if you want pure DPS, Vet is the way to go.
HOWEVER
All of the classes have roughly been brought up to level of the Vet, and so you can stomp heretics with any class now.
It really is preference.
Vet: You want to do ranged damage as a guardsmen.
Psyker: Mage/Caster class. Good crowd control. Decent DPS with certain builds. But Crowd Control is where you shine.
Ogryn: You want to tank and take up space for the team. Ogryn also gets some very fun weapons like the Heavy Stubber (giant machine gun) and a huge grenade. Also, throwable rocks for meme build.
Zealot: Melee psycho.
Yes technically veteran is stronger than he was before, It's a shame that he's the weakest class now though.
With fun being 100% subjective there is no way anyone can tell you what class to play as if you don't give us any info what you usually like to play as.
