Power Level
Do I need to be maximizing my power level to get higher power level items in the shop or as rewards from missions?

based on your level you get better gear in shop

It would be NICE tho if we COULD, HAVE, RED, RARITY, ISNT THAT RIGHT FATSHARK???? WHERE IS IT??? WHY DO I HAVE TO USE THAT UNRELIABLE SHOP AND CONTRACT VENDOR??? IF WE COULD JUST UPGRADE IT TO RED, SO I CAN HAVE THE HIGHEST POWER LEVEL

1. the system does not quite work the same as vermintide, but in general most players have observed that your average rolls in shops/missions tends to go up after you obtain your first high rating item.

I have all 4 classes at level 30 and I see far better items from emperor's gifts and in melk's store on my veteran and zealot (who both have items with 500+ ratings) and it is noticeable when compared to my psyker with 400-440 rating items who I mostly stopped playing after reaching level 30.

I am not as convinced it changes base rating average rolls in the normal store, as I have purchased several 380 base rating items on my psyker.

2. item rating does not have any direct benefit like power did in vermintide, so the total item rating is mostly meaningless except for the possible benefit your highest rated item may have on the quality of items found in your rewards/store

Not that I know, my Psyker was the last character I built and she was the first to get a 380 force sword from the armoury. Once you are level 30, it's pretty much random and you hope to get 380 weapon from the armoury.

I think the base power of the weapon plays more of a role than the power level. I have gear items with higher base power but with lower power level because they're lower in rarity, like a gray having a higher base than a blue but still has a lower level.

I think rarity also determines the power level as well, but not completely, since upgrading through the craft shop should increase the power level, but not the base power.

It's my understanding that technically you should get one of those 380 base level items, upgrade it to orange, and also boost the perk as high as you can, and hope for valuable blessings. And the higher rating stuff you are carrying melee/weapon/curio respectively, the higher level rating the gear is in the store.

In practice, I've gotten upgraded 380 items weeks ago now, upgraded them, and 99% of the time the store is offering me max base power level 324 items with the worst possible stat distribution and perks and blessings. :<

I would say, right now, check the store when you feel like it but not every hour for every character. It's like lottery, whether you put in 10 rows or 1 isn't going to make a meaningful difference since the odds are so low of getting anything anyway, but it is 10x more expensive to you.

And save materials for later. They are worthless. I haven't gotten a single good perk or blessing from upgrading and I've upgraded tons and tons and tons of stuff with my 400+ hours in the game rn.

So play the game for fun, check the stores, and when you've had enough, take a break for as long as you need to.

It's trust level exclusively.

Trust level is the in-game explanation for "levels."
