It would be NICE tho if we COULD, HAVE, RED, RARITY, ISNT THAT RIGHT FATSHARK???? WHERE IS IT??? WHY DO I HAVE TO USE THAT UNRELIABLE SHOP AND CONTRACT VENDOR??? IF WE COULD JUST UPGRADE IT TO RED, SO I CAN HAVE THE HIGHEST POWER LEVEL
I have all 4 classes at level 30 and I see far better items from emperor's gifts and in melk's store on my veteran and zealot (who both have items with 500+ ratings) and it is noticeable when compared to my psyker with 400-440 rating items who I mostly stopped playing after reaching level 30.
I am not as convinced it changes base rating average rolls in the normal store, as I have purchased several 380 base rating items on my psyker.
2. item rating does not have any direct benefit like power did in vermintide, so the total item rating is mostly meaningless except for the possible benefit your highest rated item may have on the quality of items found in your rewards/store
I think rarity also determines the power level as well, but not completely, since upgrading through the craft shop should increase the power level, but not the base power.
In practice, I've gotten upgraded 380 items weeks ago now, upgraded them, and 99% of the time the store is offering me max base power level 324 items with the worst possible stat distribution and perks and blessings. :<
I would say, right now, check the store when you feel like it but not every hour for every character. It's like lottery, whether you put in 10 rows or 1 isn't going to make a meaningful difference since the odds are so low of getting anything anyway, but it is 10x more expensive to you.
And save materials for later. They are worthless. I haven't gotten a single good perk or blessing from upgrading and I've upgraded tons and tons and tons of stuff with my 400+ hours in the game rn.
So play the game for fun, check the stores, and when you've had enough, take a break for as long as you need to.
