Flamer is a noob trap
It kills horde, and has a slow time to build up damage on single targets and elites.

There's nothing flamer does that Zealot's other weapons dont do better, especially when in combination with each other.

Evis replaces flamer for both hordes, and has a much faster kill time against elites.

Power hammer is the same for people that know how to melee swing from V2 and horde kite.

Demon's claw, takes care of hordes too just fine.

Lasguns are better at killing ranged targets or suppressing obnoxious targets like gunners or snipers.

Bolter is same situation just way better at everything.

Even autoguns are preferable to flamer.

All you're doing by taking flamer is inhibiting yourself the versatility the other guns have, and doubling down on your horde clear capabilities which your melee weapons already cover extremely well.

You might try to make an argument for Axe / Flamer - but why? You still lose the ability to engage ranged reliably.

Won't tell you how to play, I'll just point out zealots if you're taking a flamer, you're definitely not playing to your kits strengths.

OP will be hated for saying the truth lol. Purgatus might have lower DPS but clears horde just fine while having the massive boon of infinite ammo. Zealot plays far better with an XII lasgun or Agripinaa Braced.

This is only ever a problem in a small percentage of games where no one has long range. Otherwise it's fine since it trivialises hordes and even makes killing bosses cleaner since it will damage them and kill the horde that tends to congregate on top of them.

Not a noob trap but can be a huge problem in a small percentage of games. When Fatshark lets us see the loadout of everyone in the lobby we can more easily swap it out, too.

On T5 difficulty a zealot with the flamer is hands down the best. The whole point is to wipe hoards including any specials that get caught in the holy blaze very quickly. The bolter, lasgun, and autorifles are better suited for the veteran who can utilize it properly to take care of any specials who make it past the flames or are outside of their reach such as snipers and bombers. I have played and won many t5 runs with the flamer and prefer it to any other weapon. If a hoard is allowed to persist too long at T5 the team will inevitably get surrounded and everyone has to focus on clearing trash mobs while the elites and specials start spawning. The flamer I have is fantastic for staggering all sorts of enemies with its "ignores 40% of stagger resistance" and melts away anything with "Blaze away" and the feat for increased ranged damage the closer the target is, not even allowing them to get close to my teammates while they can focus on taking out threats outside of my flames. But in the end it all comes down to skill, if you are not playing mindfully then I can see how someone would think the flamer is a noob weapon. There is no point in swing your hammer around just spreading out the hoard instead of melting them within seconds allowing your teammates to pick off the elites, this also saves everyone ammo. Paired with the Crusher if you run out of ammo in a tight situation you can stun lock any Ogryns and Ragers very quickly with the super fast power up special while keeping a hoarde at a distance. Also the Flamer crits keep your 75% reduction up basically the whole time allowing you to blaze away for longer. Everyone can play in their own style but this game just come down to skill level, every weapon is viable and IMO the flamer is a super usefool tool in t5 for keeping the team from being surrounded too quickly while all the specials spawn in.

Edit: I forgot to mention the ability to keep enemies away from downed teammates when you are out of grenades. And for kiting bosses while keeping all the enemies that spawn with them especially on t5 from becoming a problem. IT also is extremely useful for supressing groups of enemies while conserving ammo if you use primary allowing your teammates to pick of enemies faster while giving everyone a stack of burning damage.

Edit #2: If you use ult with flamer is makes MULTIPLE enemiem with armor turn into a puddle. Unlike using a autorifle or bolter where you burn an entire clip with ult popped to take down a SINGLE crsher ogryn.

They're not. Its just another 'thing they don't like'. The same people will call for a nerf to flamer in a few days if they don't feel validated enough.

Uh no. The flamer is excellent. Maybe not as good at killing elites but it will stun lock lesser elites and if they are in the hord they will die to the flamer too in short order.

It is a great weapon for a zealot when not actively flanking or chasing down priority targets.

I usually use the bolter, but flamer is extremely strong and the second best in the row by ranking. The only reason why It isn't the first is you can't reach far out targets with it, but that's why you have sharpshooters in your team or dagger as a melee main weapon.

What is your flamers stats ect? only recently got into playing zealot.

I'm not sure what they have but my legendary has Blaze Away "2% damage stacking 5 times with how long you hold fire" and Fan The Flames "Ignore 40% of Stagger resistance on burning enemies." Pop your ult when the hoards gets flooded with elites and watch your name pop up in the top left corner several times in a row as you melt away anything with or without armor in the Emperors Holy Flames.

I laughed reading this Guy must have never step foot into t4 or t5 flamer is KING FOR A REASON. Unless you been running heresy/damnation you have no idea HOW ANY WEAPON OR CLASS IS ACTUALLY PLAYED.
I will take my shotgun over flamer every day of the week.

But thats my preference because I want to be able to deal with distant enemies.

Yeah you're right. You can just play Ogryn instead of Zealot. Course, wish people would stop using the shield but eh. I'd rather have an Ogryn pretending to be useful by standing still and doing nothing than a Zealot pretending hes useful in general and dying instantly.
you don't think there's any value to a weapon that draws agro while simultaneously making the user invulnerable to front hits?
Devil Shiroe Dec 17, 2022 @ 8:10pm
sounds like sombodys mad the flamer took the kills
It is pretty fun to use though while having to rely on your teammates. CLEANSE WITH HOLY FIRE!
